...sorry!I know how easy it is to fall for a picture of a lil' one in need of a home...I do. Can you afford Vetting should you find out "after" you get her that she has some major issues not disclosed by those willing to let her go for "free"? I always have apprehensions when something is offered for free...like what are they "not" telling? What if she has aggression issues? Are you prepared to tackle that one? Since annual Dentals have been the topic around here lately...can you afford 2 times the annual Dentals? Most importantly...you mentioned moving in January to a larger place. Are you living with relatives now (you mentioned inlaws)? If so, are they prepared to tackle whatever challenges this new one may bring along with her? Potty training issues? Lastly...when you move in January to a larger place, are you planning to own or rent? If you are renting, are you sure you can find a place that permits "two" dogs? Or, will you be able to afford the double deposit some places require for two dogs? Ok...those are my motherly thoughts for you...

| Hmmmm, this brings back memories of me trying to decide whether or not to go get Mikki. I posted here too. I was told to go for it. Go get her! So here is my advice for you. I do not regret getting my 2nd dog at all. I love her dearly and I am so glad I got her. Is it more expensive? Yes it is. I have paid a fortune in vet bills since I picked her up. However, she was not very well taken care of. So, I had a lot of up front bills. As far as everyday stuff, not really noticing too much of a difference. A little more in food but that is about all. I do put away a little money from each of my paychecks in case of an emergency situation. That way money isn't an issue at all. So here is my advice. If you can afford another and your heart tells you to get this pup then GO GET HER!!!!!!!

we live in an apartment now, just me and the hubby. we are looking to buy but will consider a private rental. [after our experiences with Casey Management we will never go through a Property Management company again!] We are already looking at places, we will be job and house hunting in BC when we leave next wednesday, so lots of time to find a place for two pups before January. however, you have a good point on aggression/health issues. although i may be prepared for the health issues once insurance kicks in, aggression would be more tough especially if it was dog aggression. i can handle kenneling her with company around, BUT she obviously couldn't live in a kennel because she doesn't like maci lol. i have dealt with issues concerning dog agg. and human agg. and potty problems with fosters, so idk if I want to deal with that in a dog i want to keep forever... hmmmm. | |

| lol...I know don't ya just hate when the mommy weighs in! ![]() ![]() One more bit of advice...since you & hubby are going to be moving in January, why not wait until you are settled and can take your time in the search for who will be a perfect fit for Maci? The biggest question of all for you to consider...ready? Ok, "if" this same lil' girl was listed for $350 dollars...would you still consider getting her? If not...then it was the "free" that pulled you in and her charming pic just pulled you further. ![]() Just don't rush...a doggy should be a well thought out plan. You, Hubby & Maci will be all the better for it, too! Or, get her and take your chances...lol

| Yorkie Yakker | She may still be availbale because her current family really is looking for the right home for her. It seems they have a very specific set of criteria in mind. And not everyone getting a new dog would be comfortable with the old family visiting. I do hope she finds a good forever home. |

| I just hope that this little girl is spayed. If she got into the wrong hands (people could be fooled!) then she could be in for a life of misery There are people out there that will breed any dog![]() That said, take your time making this decision. It doesn't seem like that family is rushing things, so you have some time. Have you contacted them?

| Im not a very good person to ask, I have 6 dogs living here. However sense most of them are senior aged I can tell you that it does get a bit costly as they get older. However I would not of missed out on one minute of their lives or what they all add to my life. |

| Ok... I did NOT get her I put the number in my phone and thought about it the whole way there. And even after I picked up Maci. Once I picked up Maci I realized I just wanted her... just Me and Maci for now! Give Maci some time to settle in with me and we are going job hunting in BC next week so we will wait until next spring [TRY to wait] once we are re-settled where ever life is taking us, to consider another dog. Maci is such an awesome little girl, and I want her to feel at home! so I'm glad I chose not to call that dog's owners, i really hope a good home snatches her up though!! not just someone who takes her on a whim only to rehome her again :/ |
