Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Preparing For Our Yorkie Well, we made out first big puppy purchase (besides the initial cost of the puppy from our breeder)! We ordered our 'Potty Training Puppy Apartment' along with the x-pen, box of 150 potty pads, and bed last night! I am so excited to be buying stuff! Finally! Here is what we got: Modern Puppies - Potty Training a Puppy Now, I have my eyes set on a carrier from PetSmart for travel in the car until she is big enough for one of those Snoozer car seats. Hope to get that this week. I know I need bowls, food, and brushes. What else do I need to purchase before we bring her home? She should be here mid October when she is 12 weeks. Any advice on things I need? I have so much I *want* but am trying to behave and buy necessities first. We found a great vet through many visits to local clinics and referrals from other Yorkie owners. Oh, and wanted to share something I made. I made this altered name plate for her 'doggie condo' out of my scrapbooking supplies. Thanks for any help you can give me too!

| Very cute. Puppy shampoo is the only thing I would add as something you will need immediately. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.

| I second the shampoo. Blankets (we go through them like mad here - always have dirty dog blankets). Harness/collar/leash Benadryl Would also really consider: Toothbrush/paste Ear cleaner Nail clippers

| If you plan on taking her places with you then you may want to get a bag to use as like her "diaper bag" I have one for Callie and always leave it packed by my the door with an extra harness, extend/extra leash, blanket, some of her dog food, cheerios, dog treats, depending on the weather an extra jacket or shirts, nutrical, some wipes, water bottle with water, small comb, and a travel dish.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Thank you everyone for your input! I really appreciate it! I have added all these things to my shopping list. I have a birthday coming up this week and as a present, my family is taking me on a puppy shopping spree. I am so blessed and very excited to get all these things. It makes that one step closer to our puppy! LuvTaycieGirl....Thanks! I appreciate you visiting my blog too! Scrapbooking is my addiction! LOL Lovetodream88...What a fabulous idea!!! I have a bag that I think would make the perfect 'diaper bag' for Katie Scarlett! I would've never thought of that without your suggestion! Thank you!

| We also have a 'Harry Box' in the back of our car - it contains an extra towel, kitchen paper, large 'wet wipes' for when he rolls in yucky stuff pooper scooper + bags - all this helps deal with the 'nasty bits' that will happen, rather than the lovely bits (which we keep in his 'nappy bag'!! too ). for this week! It's mine too - next Saturday woo hoo! You've got a wonderful, happy time coming up all round - congratulations! Sally + Harry x |

| I did that same type of thing with the xpen i bought from petedge.com I put a peepee pad at one end and his bed and play area on the other end. They were about equal size.... with the peepee area actually maybe a tiny bit smaller than the play area.... I bought a second nature doggie litter box and instead of the litter I use the peepee pads. He was only in his xpen for 6 months until he had full run of the place. Now I still have a litter box in a corner and if he Has to use it, he will...although he is also trained to go outside and actually prefers outside. I feel more comfortable knowing if he Needs to go while I'm at work, he can. ProSelect Suite Retreat Pet Pens | PetEdge.com I also got a Diaper Genie for the used pads, so there is No Smell of dog, etc., in my place.
