Preparing For Our Yorkie 1 Attachment(s) Well, we made out first big puppy purchase (besides the initial cost of the puppy from our breeder)! We ordered our 'Potty Training Puppy Apartment' along with the x-pen, box of 150 potty pads, and bed last night! I am so excited to be buying stuff! Finally! Here is what we got: Modern Puppies - Potty Training a Puppy Now, I have my eyes set on a carrier from PetSmart for travel in the car until she is big enough for one of those Snoozer car seats. Hope to get that this week. I know I need bowls, food, and brushes. What else do I need to purchase before we bring her home? She should be here mid October when she is 12 weeks. Any advice on things I need? I have so much I *want* but am trying to behave and buy necessities first. We found a great vet through many visits to local clinics and referrals from other Yorkie owners. Oh, and wanted to share something I made. I made this altered name plate for her 'doggie condo' out of my scrapbooking supplies. :) Thanks for any help you can give me too! :) |
Very cute! You must be so excited :D |
Very cute. :) Puppy shampoo is the only thing I would add as something you will need immediately. Congratulations on the new addition to your family. |
Ok that is very cool and wish I would have gotten that puppy apartment. hmmm let me look at my list... I have on here a leash, collar, harness, maybe some carpet shampoo if your floors are carpet just in case, that's about all I can think of that you did not mention. |
I second the shampoo. Blankets (we go through them like mad here - always have dirty dog blankets). Harness/collar/leash Benadryl Would also really consider: Toothbrush/paste Ear cleaner Nail clippers |
I love Baby Blankets:) And they are super cute! I usually buy the Carter brand from Target. TJ Maxx always have adorable ones in the baby section and their prices are awesome! I love her name:) That is one of my favorite movies! You have such talent! I looked at your scrapbooking blog! Amazing! |
awww that is so exciting you will have so much fun:) |
If you plan on taking her places with you then you may want to get a bag to use as like her "diaper bag" I have one for Callie and always leave it packed by my the door with an extra harness, extend/extra leash, blanket, some of her dog food, cheerios, dog treats, depending on the weather an extra jacket or shirts, nutrical, some wipes, water bottle with water, small comb, and a travel dish. |
Thank you everyone for your input! I really appreciate it! I have added all these things to my shopping list. I have a birthday coming up this week and as a present, my family is taking me on a puppy shopping spree. I am so blessed and very excited to get all these things. It makes that one step closer to our puppy! LuvTaycieGirl....Thanks! I appreciate you visiting my blog too! Scrapbooking is my addiction! LOL Lovetodream88...What a fabulous idea!!! I have a bag that I think would make the perfect 'diaper bag' for Katie Scarlett! I would've never thought of that without your suggestion! Thank you! |
We also have a 'Harry Box' in the back of our car - it contains an extra towel, kitchen paper, large 'wet wipes' for when he rolls in yucky stuff :sickie: pooper scooper + bags - all this helps deal with the 'nasty bits' that will happen, rather than the lovely bits (which we keep in his 'nappy bag'!! too :)). :bigbdaypa for this week! It's mine too - next Saturday woo hoo! You've got a wonderful, happy time coming up all round - congratulations! Sally + Harry x |
I did that same type of thing with the xpen i bought from petedge.com I put a peepee pad at one end and his bed and play area on the other end. They were about equal size.... with the peepee area actually maybe a tiny bit smaller than the play area.... I bought a second nature doggie litter box and instead of the litter I use the peepee pads. He was only in his xpen for 6 months until he had full run of the place. Now I still have a litter box in a corner and if he Has to use it, he will...although he is also trained to go outside and actually prefers outside. I feel more comfortable knowing if he Needs to go while I'm at work, he can. ProSelect Suite Retreat Pet Pens | PetEdge.com I also got a Diaper Genie for the used pads, so there is No Smell of dog, etc., in my place. :) Walmart.com: Playtex - Diaper Genie Elite Advanced Diaper Disposal System: Diapering & Potty |
Happy Bday to you too Harrysmum!!!! RileyDC...what a great idea on the Diaper Genie! Another thing I didn't even think of. I may have to look into that too! :) |
