I have "The Stuff" from Pet Edge, something called Vet's Best (it was on sale at Petco, and not too bad actually) and then the spray I got from mimimomo, it's the Isle of Dogs line. I like the IOD smell the best, but I think the Vet's best one is the best on Uni's hair. I did not care for the Stuff.

Mary said not to, so I spray the brush as instructed. It helps spread the conditioning spray evenly throughout the coat, and spread the nice smells too.

it works best when I spray the insinis, and then brush through. I do spray on extra when I see a matt. We've been lucky. No matts in a while.

I'm confused by this. I'd assumed with yorkies having hair, not fur, that just like with us humans, it's better to brush dry hair, as detangling wet/damp hair breaks more easily and results in split ends.

That's what I thought too, but some of the more knowledgeable ladies here schooled me. I was brought up on never brush your hair wet when it is at its weakest. Now I have been told that brushing hair wet with no conditioner will break hair, if you have conditioner it will smooth it out. Same with yorkie hair. That is why I still have a hard time remembering to spray before I brush.

I try to grow a coat on Uni. I was brushing her dry.

Now I am brushing her with spray (most times) and keep her in a shirt to keep her from scratching, and her hair is growing.

Keeping fingers crossed her coat will grow past her knees.

I use a metal comb. As soon as I pick it up Diddy rolls over on his back. He loves it. He loves anything to do with being combed or scratched. lol

I woke Paisley up last night and while she was still sleepy I rolled her over and combed her belly and chest. She let me do it for a bit without a struggle and without biting the comb.

Dori gets brushed with a Madden soft brush and mustache comb. I wait until bedtime when she is sleepy and compliant. A little spritz of Mr Groom on the brush keeps her smelling fresh. Her cotton coat rarely mats, even with a halter.

Shesha does not really like being brushed and she is over a year old. She likes her head being brushed and her back but that is it. She squeals if we even try to touch her legs or tummy.

Kaos LOVES to be brushed!!!!

"Brush+Kaos=Treat" ...for him since he was a baby. Now he stands pretty and tall with his chest out for however long it takes, because he KNOWS when I am done he is getting something out of it.

I haven't tried the treats for grooming. Only pottying outside. Maybe I should do treats after her grooming. I just hope she learns to like being brushed/combed beause I don't want to keep her shaved all the time.

Mine act as if I am trying to remove a limb! They are still pups so still learning.

I got a spray in/leave in conditioner from my groomer. It helps to keep their coat smooth and soft. Usually one squirt on each side will do. They do not like the belly and legs, but tolerate it well. They get a little piece of a treat when we are done as a reward.
