| Need quick response from those with boy yorkie(s) I'm knitting a sweater for a lady at work who has a boy "dorkie" (dachshund/yorkie mix) that doesn't own a single sweater or coat (can u believe it???). I'm trying to cut the underside back so he doesn't pee on it. But I've never had a boy pup and I'm not sure on what the difference should be between the top length of the sweater & the underside length Can anyone with a boy give me an approximate idea as to how much of a difference I should make so going potty isn't an issue while wearing the sweater? Thank you for your help

| How sweet of you to make a sweater for your coworker's doggy. The underside depends on the dog and how hair is trimmed. To be on the safe side, I would keep the underside of the coat fairly short, aiming to cover only the chest area, which would extend past the front legs.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I'd say if you keep the underside about 4 inches from the bottom edge of the sweater you'll be ok

| Thankyou Chachi, Maximo & Normarae for your quick responses I guess better shorter than longer on the underside, huh? I just couldn't believe that a little pup in Michigan wouldn't have a sweater or coat. Then I came across some old blue yarn, so thought it was a sign I should make him one. It's a surprise. I've only seen the dog once, so I figure a knitted sweater would be perfect as it has some give if I'm a little off guestimating the size. Thanks again for your help!

| How sweet of you to do this. I agree on the 4 inches, too.

| That is so sweet of you! Agreed, shorter is better than too long on the underside. Levi has a few shirts that he pees on because they are too long underneath. |

| Too cute! And I agree, Gizmo has all kinds of sweaters. Michigan winters can be mean. Can't wait to get him boots!! I agree though, about 4 in. should be enough for for him, erm, peanut.
