| Bryleigh got into CHOCOLATE!!!! I have NO IDEA where it came from, but little Miss Bryleigh found herself a Hersheys miniture cookies and chocolate bar. She only ate about 1/3 of it. BUT, she only weighs about 1.5 pouinds right now. Havent called the vet just yet, just watching her. I googled and found no real remedies. Im guessing one of my two teenage kids had it in their rooms, because I know I havent bought any of those!! She is just acting very tired and shivering, but then again being 13 weeks old, she sleeps alot and shivers from time to time anyways..... Geez...whats going to happen in our "yorkie world" next.....Just hoping shes going to be ok.......have had enough tragedy.....

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | If you know it's been a short time since she ingested it, you can induce vomitting to get most of it out. My vet recommended giving hydrogen peroxide. I would call your local ER vet and ask for a recommendation. The theobromine in the chocolate is what is toxic to dogs. Theobromine affects the central nervous system as well as the cardiovascular system. Someone here posted a chart that shows how much chocolate it takes to be toxic. I'll see if I can find it. But in the mean time, if you are at all concerned call or high tail it to the vet.

| I found that it is 1oz to 1 pound.....guestamating the size of the bar, I think she only had MAYBE 1/2 an oz. I live in a small town...My vet is an hour away. I went ahead and sent him a text just to give him a heads up.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Here are two charts to help you estimate how much they actually got. It divides the chart by the type of chocolate as some types have more theobromine than others: The Chocolate Chart Interactive - National Geographic Magazine Chocolate Toxicity Calculator - Dog ate chocolate? Find Poisonous dose. When you texted the vet, did you ask about inducing vomitting? Most ER vets will walk you through the procedure over the phone without charging you. I hope Bryleigh is ok.

| Call your vet or ER Vet Hi, I have first hand experience with this, although I'm sure RU got into more chocolate than that, but being so small you little one is very fragile. I don't want to scare you but RU almost died from it. I didnt realize he had gotten into chocolate, my older son had a Russell Stover Easter bunny up in his room in the attic and never ate it, and come October...yes..October RU went up there and ate it. He started vomiting a lot and it smelt so sweet, then was so hyber, could not sit still, then his heart started racing, when I looked it up on, it stated he could go into convulsions and coma, we got him to the ER vet just in time. They gave him charcoal to make him vomit and had to keep him on IV's. He is fine now, but I panic whenever chocolate is in the house! I never even knew where he got the chocolate from until I was cleaning up in my son's room the next week and I found the empty box! So at the time I had no idea where he got the chocolate from. So if I were you I would call, before it goes to far! Good Luck with everything and let us know how things go.

2 hours is too late to induce vomitting. The chocolate has already been digested. Definitely let the vet know about the sleepiness. Lethargy may be a sign of CNS toxicity.

| I'm praying that everything will be OK. Betty Boop will eat anything she can find. I'm constantly making sure there is nothing she can get into. Give Bryleigh a hug.
