PetCo lets the animals drown in NY Flood

According to a staff member the order came down from corporate to leave the animals there as it was "more economical to let them die than to board them elsewhere!!!"

Oh my gosh! This is just unbelievable! Those poor little babies. I hope something is done about this! I think their policy is a joke and that the "big wigs" of the company better spend some time rewriting it. I just can't believe they allowed this to happen.

Well, I hope they still feel that way when they're closing their stores because no one wants to shop there anymore! Stupid corporate greed! I am just shocked and appalled that they let something like this happen.

Maybe or maybe not my grandfather watches the news every night and I hear it and I never new anything about New York Flooding just Maryland. I think all stores should have a emergency plan though.

Some one said NO leave the animals in the store. But Who ? I know people will lie to cover their own butt. They will blame someone else when something bad happens. Unless Petco has an Emergency protocol in print. We may never know who decided to leave the pets in the store, or why. What did happen should be a wake up alarm for them and other companies.
People that shop at speciality stores, do not consider pets a commodity, like dry goods. For their public relations Peco, can not simply wait for this to settle down and go away. They need to step up and tell us what, they as a company are going to do, so something preventable like this, never happens again.

I have no knowledge as to whether it was corporate's call or the manager enforcing "store policy", but how about using some common sense! This is so sad

I work for a large, nationwide corporation myself and I can assure you, they are very aware of impending weather emergencies at all of their locations. As I stated before, they had a duty to protect all living creatures in their care. I will never step foot into another Petco again.

Corporate decision...blah blah work with 7000 animal welfare groups, do not sell dogs or cats...yet they inhumanely treat chinchillas furthermore keeping them in cruel confinement.

I already boycott them until they get a chinchilla is as important to me as a Yorkie; I've had & love both.

Ours dont sell chinchillas. Only hamsters, rats, mice, birds and fish.

The ones I've been to do have chinchillas. There are only one or two at a time as they are about $120+

Well it looks like Ill be going to Petsmart from now on. I dont like going there anyway because of their prices
