Oh my goodness I certainly know how scary that is. I'm so glad you all are safe.

This past fall, I had an owl that kept coing into the yard and sitting in the Oak Tree, I ran an grabbed a camera and tell you I got this great picture of it. I just pointed the camera not knowing if I was actually seeing it since it was pitch dark out. But here is another of my backyard visitors.

I live in the country, and I take extra precautions too. But unfortunately, birds of prey are not limited to the country, they can be seen in the city as well. Glad your babies are safe.

I've had owls and hawks come after Cali when we lived in the country -- really scary. I never let her go out alone, especially in the evening and we live in the city now. Glad it all came out well!
