| You really can't blame the AKC for puppymills. The AKC is about registering and keeping records of PUREBREDS, and they are very strict if your record keeping is bad, but they can't be any stricter than the individual states are in requiring decent kennels. As more states have passed laws requiring more humane kennels, the AKC can see that the kennels pass the individual State’s standards. Many commercial breeders have left, and that’s why you find the proliferation of bogus registries, many of the registries were started by the commercial breeders themselves. So we need to change state laws.
Seriously, there seems to be a hidden agenda going on here. If I were involved in the clubs that used these woman’s’ registry, I think I would want to vote to have them taken off the board, or find another registry, but I don’t think this says that the people who are using the registry are bad, only that what Tiffany allegedly did was bad. |
