Default Yorkies on the bed?

Choppa doesnt sleep with me but will beg to come on the bed sometimes. Im afraid because he never sits still and will jump off the bed. Its about 3 1/2 feet up. He was sitting still, collecting his ear rub when he tried to roll back and give me his belly. If I hadnt had my hand on him he would have hit the floor.
Am I right to be afraid? Im checking into steps for him. What do you guys think? Can you enjoy your furbaby sitting on your bed or are you all nerves like me? Am I the only one in the house that knows he is wittle (little) :-)

Well, my boy is bigger, and there's no stopping him from jumping on/off furniture. He even sits on the top of the couch! He scares the crap out of me. He's 16lbs but I still try to discourage it. But the bed is no problem for him, he does it with ease. But he's pretty agile and has good balance in general.

I would invest in steps if I had a little one that couldn't get on/off, for safety reasons as well as my laziness, LOL!! My dads dogs have short legs even though they are 'bigger' and can't get on/off the bed so he's constantly picking them up(though they jump off fine) and they never use the stairs they bought them... so it's a pain in the butt. They also have ramps.

I have a VERY high bed that Roxie cannot jump onto (though she thinks that she can). I bought steps that she refuses to use, which I have posted about before. If she wants to get on the bed one of us has to lift her up onto it, and then put her back on the floor when it's time to get down.

No, you are not wrong to worry...I worry too, especially since Roxie has LP in both her back knees. I wish I could get her to use these darn stairs...

its hard to keep them from being cuddly, they love people. my ollie sleeps as close to me as he can every night. he is 6-7 lbs, i have 2 sets of stairs to my bed & he uses them & also jumps. my advice if you can get a bed closer to the floor because it is sooooo hard to stop them & actuallly i wouldnt want to. you actually get used to them being so close & they will move if you roll, etc . good luck

I let mine play in the bed with me but when I go to sleep, I put him in the ex pen. I am so afraid he will get caught between the mattress and the headboard while I am sleeping.

My bed is super high, so my girl can't get up or down without help, and she doesn't attempt to jump down either. Although I do have a ramp for the couch that she uses all the time.

I think I would get stairs and teach him to use them if my room was big enough I would have stairs for Callie but there is just no room. Callie jumps on my bed sometimes but I dont like her jumping down from it even at 16 pounds because i worry about her front leg over extending again and I dont really spend that much time in my room unless its bed time so there never that much need to be on the bed except when I change her clothes or am checking her ears and cleaning her eye boogies.

I currently sleep with 6 dogs on the bed the smallest being 4lbs. They've all started sleeping on the bed with me after I knew they were trained enough to where there would be no accidents so around 16 weeks old. I think they adjust quite well and learn what not to do. I've never had one fall of the bed before or get hurt. I was worried I would roll over and squish one but again they've learned where to sleep or to move as soon I do.
I do have stairs leading up to my bed though as I have a high bed. They all learned to use it and never try jumping on or off the bed anymore.

When we adopted Tessie a little over 2 years ago- her previous parents said that she had only slept with them in bed. I was very worried about her sleeping in the bed with us because our bed is very high and I was also scared to death that my husband would roll over on top of her

We tried several stairs, stools, etc. I thought the wooden steps with the carpet would work, but she wouldn't use because her toe nails would sometimes make a "clicking" noise on the wood that would scare her

We finally found what would work for Tessie. I have a very small stool that has a wicker bottom and I put a soft hand towel on top of it. Then we have bench with a very soft, cushiony material for her to jump to next. Then, we'll put one of our king size accent pillows diagonal from the bench to the foot of the bed- so she can climb up. Of course, we also have to make sure that the comforter is pulled out just over the wooden foot board - because if Tessie's toe nails touched the wood & made a "clicking" noise- it would scare her to death

So funny how we cater to our furbabies

I LOVE how Furgie snuggles up to me when we go to sleep, one of my most favorite things! She usually doesn't get out of bed till I do, but my bed is on the lower side...

Maximus is way too little to get on and off the bed and also will not use any normal thing like stairs.....what he will use is one of those blue totes that is used for storage with a cotton thermal blanket folded and draped over it...,they are a bit heavier and don't slip when he gets down in the night and goes potty. He cracks me up when I see his little shadow walking to the bathroom and popping back up on the bed!! Just slide in your closet during the day!

I have the perfect solution!
During the last 2 years Molly, my yorkie, has torn the ligaments in both knees.
I knew that even when they healed, i wouldn't want her to jump off my bed, so i sawed 8 inches off the bed legs!
The height Molly now has to jump is less than jumping onto the sofa, so it's perfect!
Of course, i wouldnt expect everyone to be that crazy, but it works for us.
I now have an exbreeding puppy farm bichon, and it's good for her too, as she has some arthritis in her front leg.

i am super worried about my baby jumping off my bed so i hardley ever play with him on my bed, he gets too hyper. But Ziggy sleeps in bed with me every night. Either on my/his pillow. Or under the covers curled up next to me. so either way i can hear and feel him if he tries to get up- im a very light sleeper. So i'll take him to pee on his pads or just put him down so he can drink water.. anyway, i think its normal to worry. but i cant sleep without him..

One of first purchases I made for Gracie was a pair of steps. I was always lifting her up and down because she wanted to be with me but she wanted to check on the cats as well. I had to teach her to go up and down on them but now she just loves them. She sometimes gets up to use the pee pad at night and if she hears something she will go and investigate but for the most part after the lights are out she sleeps right next to me all night.
