| Being away from your baby... Well first just wanna say, sorry I haven't been around. Things have been crazy this summer and I love this site so much that I found it too distracting so I left for a while so that I could get some work done. I'm getting ready to go on a much needed vacation and Harley is staying with the bf's mom. I'm a nervous wreck. My question: Am I over doing it, to type a guide to how I care for him...??? Maybe I'm just doing this to make myself feel better, but I'm super worried cause we wont be in the country so it'll be hard for her to get a hold of us if there is an emergency. She has had dogs before, but never one so small, and I want him to feel as at home as possible. Plus I want her to know everything about him. I've already called the local emergency vet there (it's in a different province that he's staying). I've given her my vet and breeder's numbers. I'm going to prep all his food before we leave. Am I nuts? any advice?

| I don't think you're crazy at all. I would do the same thing if I was leaving my pups with anyone. My parents also would leave very detailed instructions for my sister when she would petsit for their dog and cat every summer. I think that it helps you to have peace of mind that your baby will be taken care of the way you want him to be while you are gone. I hope that you have a wonderful vacation!

| I have to laugh. That is how I would be with Copper. It is hard to leave your baby with anyone else. I worry about him missing me. Don't worry, I think you are normal, but have a great vacation anyway!

| Ok good. I was thinking i was a little nuts. I'm excited to get away. But at the same time I'm a nervous wreck. He's never been away from me for more than 24 hours.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | By all means, write up your instructions. You won't have a good time if you don't. I've found Roxy a whole different experience than ones with big dogs we've had in the past. It's better to leave her with a bunch of instructions than leaving her wondering what's the right thing to do. I always leave mega instructions. lol! Harley will most likely be fine, but we read on this forum everyday of all the sudden unexpected things happening. Then go have a good time!

| It might be over doing it to type up a guide on how to care for him, but if it makes you feel better, please do it. Better to do it and have peace of mind then to not, and then not enjoy yourself worrying about your dog. |
