| Sweet Story about Ahi and a Girl ;) I wanted to tell this story because it just made my heart fill with love. The other night my two DD's are taking a shower. (5yr.old and 8yr.old) Well you know how siblings can be. My 8yr.old makes my 5yr.old cry.(Who knows why?lol) (oh and my 5yr.old is a drama queen) And she is sobbing. Ahi who is on my bed instantly perks her ears up and runs to the edge of the bed, whines to be let down. I put her down and she runs for the bathroom door. She then paws and scratches and whines to be let in. My DD is wailing away. Ahi sits in front of the tub and cries with her. My DD is finally done and unfortunately to our ears is still crying. Ahi follows her into the bedroom, my DD is on the bed (still crying) and Ahi is whining to get up there. We put her on the bed and she won't stop giving her kisses. I kept telling my DD to calm down because Ahi was so frantic. Would not stop kissing her. I picked up Ahi cause she was so crazy. Ahi would NOT let me carry her and insisted on being with my DD.(She wiggled so much to get back to her I thought she was gonna jump out of my arms) She kept giving her kisses until she calmed down and would'nt let anyone take her away from my DD. Finally DD is calm, lying on her bed. Ahi runs around but kept checking back on my DD to give her extra kisses. I'm so stunned on how much a bond those two already have. It's so sweet like she understands. BTW my DD loves her up everyday like there is no tomorrow. If I was Ahi...I would be irritated. LOL Thanks for reading...just wanted to share. (p.s. don't mind my DD nakedness lol she hates jammies)

| That is so sweet. I wonder if Ahi will be this way with others. So far my youngest girl is the only one that cries in this house. lol

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That is an amazing story. Such a great bond and good protector you have. I had something similar happen to me many years ago. I'd just broken up with a girlfriend, and I was taking it hard. I was living alone. I owned an old Lab, who I'd had since he was a pup. I slept on a waterbed that the Lab hated. I could never even coax him up there. But this one time, when I was so depressed, he hopped up and buried his head into my arms. I think I probably burst into tears, but I held him for several minutes, said thanks, and let him go back down. Dogs have an amazing sense of compassion.

Next to Yorkies I think Labs are wonderful and very loyal. My grandparents had a black Lab named "Zaboga" (Japanese character) And he lived to be very old. I swear he understood everything that my grandpa told him. My grandpa talked to him like he was a person and would do whatever he was told to do. We all cried when he was taken away to be euthenized(sp?). He couldn't walk, couldn't see, could barely eat or drink. And when he was taken and they carried him he softly cried and wagged his tail as in goodbye. oh my gosh..i'm tearing now as I write this. I'm now seeing how much compassion an animal can have.(more than humans at times it seems.) We really underestimate them.

| Ahis_Mama: very sweet story and picture. It is amazing that even a tiny pup already knows and wants to comfort her family. Mike: another very sweet story. Dogs do have an amazing sense of compassion. When I fell down the icy front steps of our house and dropped Max's leash, he did not run off. Instead, he climbed up on my chest and gave me kisses until I could stand. More recently, I was walking both of the boys downhill on wet pavement and I went skating on some gravel. The boys were going so fast, they pulled me straight over (yes, I am a klutz ). They both were so worried and put their front paws on my shoulders. The doggies don't like when I am sad, angry, or hurt.

| Thank you. I am falling in love with her more and more everyday.(If that is even possible cause I already love her so much.) It feels like this family wouldn't be complete without her.
