Dogs do have an amazing sense of compassion. When I fell down the icy front steps of our house and dropped Max's leash, he did not run off. Instead, he climbed up on my chest and gave me kisses until I could stand. More recently, I was walking both of the boys downhill on wet pavement and I went skating on some gravel. The boys were going so fast, they pulled me straight over (yes, I am a klutz
). They both were so worried and put their front paws on my shoulders. The doggies don't like when I am sad, angry, or hurt.
