You do. Flying from CA to TN required a health certificate, and again when I took Kaji to Mexico. I don't think a vet would sign off on a pregnant dog flying anywhere.

She should be able to understand that, that's pretty simple. You might also want to ask her if her ears have ever bothered her on planes, it due to the cabin pressure and the changes in pressure can make ears hurt, tummies ache, and I imagine some real discomfort for a pregnant dogs. Her unborn puppies would probably be feeling the changes in pressure too. Good for you for being involved, and if she still doesn’t listen, try to find out her flight number and call the Airline and warn them.

Wouldn't take my dogs to the Dominican anyway-I went there for a midwifery trip and it's not all glitz and glamour! Besides, my dogs are English (Yorkshire). They don't speak Spanish or French or Patois. (Haitian dialect). :-)

#1. Doesn't your friend have a vet to ask this question too? She does have a pregnant dog which should be seen by her vet

#2. The above mentioned vet would need to clear this dog for a flight which I doubt would happen.

#3. Does the woman have no sense whatsoever?

#4. What happens when she arrive in the Dominican Republic and the bitch wouldn't be allowed back on the plan with puppies. So then what? She will be stuck there until.......

Great post! I would dare say, if she did make it to the Dominican with her dog, she would have those puppies well before day 60.......due to the stress of the flight and all. She is taking the risk of losing not only the puppies, but the mother, also.

yes they do but when they do this it is a good for a year she has one from last yr . and it has not expired yet it expires the day after she leaves i think .

No they're not. All certificates are good for no more than 30 days.

Certificates must be issued no more than 3 days before the flight, and are good for 30 days after it was issued. So let's say I'm leaving this Friday out of the country. The soonest I can get a certificate is today, and the latest Thursday. Then I have 30 days from the date it was issued to get me and my dog back into the US. Unless the rules changed in the last 2 months, that's what they are.

It's easy to travel with a dog or cat to the Dominican Republic. But do not bring a bird as the bird needs to remain in quarantine. To bring your dog a veterinarian certificate issued for rabbies and distemper in the past 30 days of the travel date is required. At the airport in the DR you should ask for the animal control person (Sanidad Animal) in the customs area. He will examine your certificate and fill out an official entry form or permission for which you will pay less than US$10. Prior to traveling with your pet, you should call your carrier for more information and the cost of transporting your animal. If you are flying on American Airlines make sure your connecting flight is not American Eagle in the case your pet does not fit under your airline seat. If everyone is right, she won't be cleared to fly, being pregnant...and even if it is still good when she leaves, it will be expired by the time she wants to return home and will need another exam, most likely will not pass being PG or a very good possibility she will whelp there and have pups to young to fly...than she will be stuck there.
