| Rescued Yorkie Mix Hi, I rescued Kiki from a local shelter. She is a great girl and doing well with her older brother Max. My only concern is that she gets a little cranky at night. She growls and snaps when you try to move her. Is this normal? |

| Molly is like that, and she is a rescue. She sleeps with me, and if i move in bed, she growls, but never bites...she just stomps off to the end of the bed where she settles down again. I should probably lift her and put her on the floor every time she does it, but because it happens in the middle of the night, i don't.

| We used to have a Lhasa Apso who was like that. If you tried to move her when she was asleep she would just about take your hand off. I never did figure out why she did this but we just left her alone when she was sleeping. How old is Kiki?

| Kiki She's around 6-7 months old. I'm trying to figure out how to attach her picture. She's a cutie and a character. |

| I got my Hobbes at 12 weels old, he is 2 now and he still does this,I think he gets confused sometimes if we touch him when he is sleeping. Calvin growls when you pick him up but he does it in a loving way. If he is in the recliner with his daddy and doesn't want to move he growls and pushes himself further into the back of the chair.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Nikki is like that and he is a rescue but he is around 18 years old. I think since Kiki is still young you should be able to break her of it. She is a cutie.

| My lucy did this when she was a puppy. I started wrapping her ina soft (and thick) blanket so she couldn't nip me AND giving her a little treat when I picked her up. Mainly she got mad if she was napping in a comfy spot and I had to move her for some reason. Anyway, now she is fine with it and she is 2 years old. I guess she figures being picked up and moved can lead to good things!

| Hi there, First I'd like to welcome you to YorkieTalk and so glad you are here! You are so kind to rescue the sweet little thing from the shelter and giving her a good home. This is just a thought, but since you might not be aware of Kiki's history, it could be someone was mean to her or kids picked on her while she was sleeping, so she just learned to growl when people bother her. Possibly as she adjusts to her new surroundings, she might learn to relax a little and calm down. Anyway....have a wonderful Sunday evening.

| Rubin (8yrs) does this, I call it complaining, he never tries to nip. If he did He would get a gentle squeeze on his muzzle and a firm no, or a light three finger tap and a firm no. Gracie is a rescue and she bit me a few times so I used the two corrections above. and she stopped biting. She still complains gerrr... but no nips. ( she is 2 1/2 now) |
