I am originally from Montana where not only can we CCW but we can open carry. Sometimes makes the tourists nervous. BTW my son is in the Air Force and was telling me about recently transporting a C130 fairly full of military handlers and dogs - said it was a long trip overseas for those dogs (and people too I guess) but they were all really great. He loved it.

| I'm so sorry this happened to you. I stopped walking my dogs around the neighborhood several years ago because of all the loose dogs. It is a shame that people don't follow the laws and everyone else has to worry about being attacked. I see pit bulls runing loose around her every other week and I am scared to death of them. Now I get up really early every morning and take them to the park for a walk.

| I was going to say carry a CWP but that's the same thing as a CCW. I agree though with most of the posts. Even if it is stratching you have every right to walk your dog, who I'm sure is on a leash without getting physically injured. Imagine if someone else walking by with a puppy doesn't have the same reflexes as you and their little one...Yeah I don't even want to think about it. I'm glad Mocha is okay, but I would really try to make a report. You shouldn't feel nervous about being able to take your dog out for a walk.

| You should really still go to the ER or at least your doctor to get treated and to document your wounds and this attack. Especially as you said a few scratches were fairly deep. Scratches can be as infective as bites and I'm worried you could end up with some kind of systemic bacterial infection if not treated. The aggressive dog owner would be responsible for the bill. Please don't wait for the next time as it could be much worse, as the dog will know what he did the first time didn't work. Next time he may try to knock you down, and that would not be good.

| Thank you all very much for your support and suggestions. I followed what some of you suggested and had my doctor checked out my injuries. I'm happy to report that they are healing fine, no infections. I also reported that dog to the local Animal Control. They will send someone over to the house to investigate and they assured me that they will make sure that dog will be properly confined inside the house/yard. I also got the family in trouble because the Animal Control shows no record of dog license for that dog. They will be cited and fined for this attack plus lack of dog license. Again, thank you all for your concern. It is so great to have support from fellow yorkie mommies and daddies. |
