| ![]() I always get scared of things in the woods. I live surrounded by woods and we have quite a menagarie of wildlife. For the past 2 days, one of red foxes has been walking back and forth in the tree line behind my house. Granted, it's a ways back but I have seen it come out of the tree line and roll around in my next door neighbors back yard! Maybe some 50 yards from her back door!

| ![]() Last I heard, now the residents of Laguna Woods want to try to kill the coyotes. I haven't heard the full story yet, but the AM station teased it as "now the coyotes are the prey".

We have the "deer shouldn't be shot" debate 4-5 times a year with people who realize we hunt (we eat the deer we shoot, we donate the coyotes to a company That processes them-yes coyote can be eaten)

We donate 1 deer a season to a program in the county we hunt in, to feed the hungry. Its called hunters for the hungry. it's a statewide Program The rest we fill the freezer with and we never buy store bought meats.

IMO coyotes have every reason to hunt what ever they can eat. How can WE shoot them for trying to live? It is not the Coyotes fault that the owner wasn't 100 % watching the dog, maybe they should have been on better watch. The coyote is just doing what it was born to do, hunt for food and try to live. Knowing this, as a pet owner (of a small dog) I will do anything and everything in my power to protect my dog. This goes for Coyotes, snakes, hawks, and owls, I will always have my guard up and I will always make sure Pnut is safe.

| ![]() I heard the same thing, that they want to pass a law allowing them to carry guns and shoot coyotes whenever they want... We never ever let lulu off a leash when it is somewhere other than a backyard, even then, we are always on the lookout for hawks, she is NEVER unsupervised outside of the house. Like i said, all it takes is a second for something to happen. |

| ![]() I know this is how you are supposed to walk them but we have ours walk in front of us where we can keep an eye on them. They know how to walk in heal position and we practice that when we practice our training, but for everyday walks, they are right out in front where we can see them at all times. |

| ![]() That's really great that you donate to the shelters. I've never had coyote, but if someone cooked me some, I would def want to taste it for myself.

As for the coyotes, I agree with you. The rich people want to build their houses up in the hills where the coyotes live, and they want to have hiking trails up in said hills, building into the coyotes habitat, what did they think was going to happen? I don't like to walk yorkies in anything but paved roads anyway, their hair picks up every single burr and leaf and it's a PITA to get them all out. Esp on cotton coats.

Dh and I just moved into a house, our house is backed up on a hill, and our backyard has a slope that goes down.. Well above that slope is land and rocks... I'm pretty sure we have all kinds of animals living back there. In fact I had a roadrunner run acrosss my hill and jump over the chain link!! (it was pretty neat) Our HOA mailed everyone a letter saying homeowners are seeing a lot of coyotes in the area, and to be careful. Knowing that am I going to let Pnut off leash anywhere??? Heck NO. When he is in my backyard I am back there, I keep a look out on the top of our hill and around the fence line, you just never know! When we take Pnut out to Pee at night, DH will take his gun hook pnut on a leash and take him to P! Might be a little crazy, yes BUT we are prepared! I dont take Pnut on un-paved roads either, I always worry about bugs and other stuff that he might step in that I can't see... And he doesnt like his feet to get dirty either! ![]()
