| I think the german shepherd yelping when they did the shock collar demonstration says it all. As little as 0.02 amps is capable of causing pain and muscle twitching in humans (adult weight and mass).

| People have been training dogs for centuries before this electric collar came into existence. It hurts them for no reason at all since there are other proven methods The owners should be sentenced to receive an EMG. That would be an eye opener. |

| There is never an excuse for harming an animal. People who do not want to take the time to learn how to teach a dog will always use punishment rather than proper communication and training to deal with problems. Some will say that the dog won't shut up or the dog will not learn. I always tell them that the human needs to be somewhat smarter than the dog to begin with. |

| I can't click on the link. I don't want to see it. But definitely do not agree that shock collars should be used. I have an acquantance / coworker who does not agree with me. She got one for her mixed breed (beagle and something) because she needed to block off part of her yard that the dog was tearing up. I told her he was just bored while she was gone and she should consider putting Joey in a doggie day care while she is at work. She didn't want to spend the money and there wasn't one who was on her actual route to work. It is now the only thing I can think of when I have to speak to her regarding something work related. Makes me queasy when I see her name in my inbox!

| I hate shock collars. "Electric collars" or "e-collars" is just a nice way of putting it. Pure laziness on an owner's part, IMO.

| Where I live EVERYONE has an underground fence. So I guess this is how the dog's learn their boundaries? My neighbors were FURIOUS with me for putting up a real fence. I don't regret it.

Electric fences are so dangerous. No only can it hurt a dog, many bigger dogs will run through it anyway and get lost or hit by a car. It is just cruel for small dogs. | |

| I can not STAND electric collars! I don't think that anyone has a reason for shocking a dog. My friend who has a lab uses one. Everyone has told her that it is a horrible thing to use. Her excuse is that her lab won't listen otherwise. I feel so sorry for her dog. But she refuses to listen to anyone. I have only met her dog a few times but she is a giant sweetie. |

| I consider those things cruel. Watching the video of the Shepard getting shocked just goes to show you how powerful those collars are.
