yorkiepup.com I have a friend who just purchased a puppy from yorkiepup.com. She talked to the man over the phone and said he seemed so educated about yorkies. She is supposed to pick her puppy up Saturday morning at the airport. My question after reading all the negative reviews is, Has anyone ever had a good yorkiepup.com experience? If so, please share. I don't want to frighten her - but there are so many negative experiences. I did find a site with alot of good reviews, but who knows who is actually writing these reviews. Any info would be so helpful as I have no experience with purchasing a puppy online and having it flown to me. |
I don't know anything about this website, but I would not want to buy a Yorkie I have not seen and it be sent to me on a plane. I would prefer to see the parents of the puppy and the environment it was raised in. |
I totally agree. We are in South Texas and they are in the DFW area. She was invited to go and pick the puppy up, but due to her work schedule decided to have it shipped on a plane. She has recieved numerous pictures and he is adorable. He is teeny tiny, weighing in at 1.3lbs at 12 weeks which also makes me nervous about the flying. However, the deed is done and the transaction has taken place. Just trying to get any info I can. Quote:

An associate of mine bought from yorkiepup more than once all are very very tiny and very very expensive. The little girl they purchased i saw in person she was very healthy and adorable. They had purchased the yorkie, Little Joe from the site also who died from a customer dropping him. |
don't If she has not seen the pup or meet the guy in person don't do it. you don't know who you are talking to on the other side of the phone. I did it and two weeks later she die. I did not get her from the same place but I did get her online. |
So in your experience the puppies were healthy? The little boy died because of an accident that occured at your associate's place, or when it was in the care of yorkiepup.com? Quote:

They invited her to come in and see the puppy. She is 8 hours away, so they offered her shipping. She was also told that the puppy was guaranteed to be healthy or her money would be refunded. Quote:

I personally have not bought from yorkiepup. I believe the accident occured in the care of yorkiepup. |

Are you talking about the notorious Yorkiepuppy.com  All I can say is RUN DON'T WALK! Please tell your friend that you should never purchase a puppy without meeting the parents in person, visiting the breeder and forming a good solid relationship. IMO one negative review for a breeder would be enough for me to walk away and he has many, many, many more than that to solidify his breeding practices. I have heard some horror stories that I must assume to be true. :( Do you know how to do a search on YT for Jeff Dane and Yorkiepup.com? I was going to link the threads that have been started but there where THREE PAGES! |

They have back to school specials? :( |
Thanks ladies. It makes me sad to think of a tiny puppy on a plane ride, although it is very short. However, my friend based her decision on a tiny yorkie. My Chloe is 4 1/2 lbs and she is "too big" in her eyes. I have a friend who has a teeny tiny yorkie male and at 2 years he has not reached 2lbs. My other friend (who made the purchase from yorkiepup) is seeking a tiny yorkie like this. I know it is quite sick, but she has already paid the man. Are the puppies from there sick or are they bred unethically? My friend isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and now I am worried for this little guy coming here this weekend. |
The puppy is arriving before 8am so that it won't be so hot... according to her. I believe they ship American Airlines Cargo?? Quote:

I have no experience with having a dog "shipped" to me but aren't there any yorkie pups closer to where your friend lives???????? With soooo many dogs in rescue and needing homes, why would someone have to buy a pup that's only 1.3 lb and have it put on an airplane? Just my opinion and I'm sorry if I ruffled feathers but it seems pretty cruel and inhumane to me. |

I live about 15 minutes from DFW Airport in good traffic. LOL i just pray that this baby will be ok. |
Here is what is going on in Georgia with the heat. The heat index on Wednesday was 105 degrees. This is a report we had on the news tonight. Veterinarian Says Heat Can Be Deadly For Dogs - News Story - WSB Atlanta |
My friend is a high power attorney who feels like she should be able to get what she wants at the snap of her fingers. I love her to death, but when it involves a living, breathing puppy it makes me nervous. My Yorkie isn't big compared to several others I have seen and it is not good enough for her. I loved the breeder that I used as she made the experience really easy and was always there to answer questions. She had us in her home, allowed us to meet her puppies and their parents. I suggested her finding someone like this, but she said no. She found a small dog and that is what she wants. I guess this post is pretty pointless, but I love my Yorkie as I love my children and I am so worried about what she should expect with her 1st Yorkie from yorkiepup. I am hoping he isn't as small as quoted, but I have no clue. Also, the weather in both places is supposed to be 83 degrees at arrival and departure? Quote:

Personally I would never by a living animal online just because I want something small. I have heard a lot of horror stories abotu Jeff Dane too. Maybe after this experience your friend will be in the right position to sue the pants off those people. I am so sorry but their is a good chance of something going worng. A tiny puppy in cargo and in the heat. This is terrible. Your friend will get what she wants but at the chance of a very sick little pup. I am scared tha tshe is in for a lot of pain and heartache. Being so busy like that, I wonder what time she will even have for a new puppy. |

People who are looking for what your friend is looking for either get ripped off or end up paying through the nose for vetting for a sick puppy. I feel sorry for this puppy. :( |
I was on the phone with her a minute ago. She says the puppy will be going to work with her daily. She is a partner at a pretty spiffy lawfirm that is dog friendly. She said the plane will arrive at 7:40am so that the heat should not be too much of an issue. The actual flight time is about 40 minutes. I would never buy an animal because of size either, so please don't think that I condone her actions. I am simply trying to gather information incase she finds herself in a bad situation. Quote:

I really thought that it was against airline regulations to ship during the summer months. How depressing all the way around. |
So do I. I tried to give her the name of a reputable breeder who breeds for quality and not size. This puppy is 1.3lbs at 12 weeks - that is really tiny for a flight, don't you think? Quote:

Maybe you can suggest the above to her. |

And, if the puppy grows to a size she is not happy with (which happens OFTEN) I guess give her a list of rescues....but tell her to keep in mind that yorkies are being dumped daily in the state of TX so she should be prepared to wait to surrender him/her if she decides to. Hopefully she will not just discard it in a shelter. :( OR...hopefully she will fall in love with it and give up the idea of having a rat sized yorkie. |
