| To Grandma's or Not To Grandma's? For the 4th my DD & I are going to hang with my bff. I don't want to bring Princess because 1)she hates bff's dog 2)underground pool worries me 3)not all of the yard is fenced. I planned on taking her to my parents since we're leaving around 11a til probably 11-12p. Then I wondered about my moms neighbors doing fireworks & they did tonight when we were there and Princess was unfazed. But my mom is having people over, they will be drinking, so I worry about anything related to that like lack of awareness of her or leaving the gate open. So my question is: should I leave Princess home or take her to "Grandma's" house? She'd be home almost 12 hours. She's pad trained, always has ample food & water so her physical needs will be met. She's not at risk of hypoglycemia, etc. No fireworks are allowed here so they should be minimal, if any. I'm not driving so I can't come home mid-day. Thanks, sorry for the novel (as usual)

| Sounds like it would be safer to leave her home for the day... I'd probably be cutting my visiting short though, lol.

| I would leave her at home where she is comfortable. Don't want her going to mom's in all the confusion of the holiday. I think since she is pad trained and has everything she needs at her house she should be ok. I have left mine for 8-10 hours before and they just take it easy.

| I'd leave her home. Better yet, a boarding facility may have space to take her this am and you could pick her up tomorrow am. If Princess is still a puppy, 12 hours is really too long because there is no guarantee that she will eat when you aren't there.

| I agree leaving home sounds much safer and comfortable for her....leave a television on maybe to keep the house from being too quiet for her Have a wonderful time!

| Leave her home. Do you have a friend or neighbor who can check on her mid day?

| Thanks for the input. I'm going to leave her home. I'll leave the "soundscapes" channel a little louder so it will help drown out any extra noises there may be today. I've also "hid" a bunch of tiny treats throughout the apt. That will help me guess what she's done all day, too. I don't want to board her for two reasons, I'm just really paranoid about the care she'll get, as I'm unfamiliar with them. Plus Princess would hate it I'm sure. She gets really freaked out going into any place she doesn't know. She's a year and a half &...curvy, so I think she'll be ok even if she eats minimally. Hope you all have a great holiday!!!
