Our vet sent Bentley (male) home with pain meds after the neuter. I would expect nothing less than to have pain meds for a spay since it's so much more involved and probably painful. I'm glad she is mostly back to her usual self. That's a good sign that she's not in much pain. :D |
Maybe it's a local thing but I have never been given pain medicines for my animals after a spay or neuter. I have been given antibiotics occasionally. If your dog is acting fine I would not worry about it. She has slept through the worst part of it. You do need to keep her from jumping and running too much. So glad you and she are doing fine. |

So glad to hear Poppy is doing well. I did the same thing with our little Maddie... When we first got her, I delayed getting her spayed because of my fear of having her put under for the surgery. When she went into heat, it was such a nightmare at my home. Even though Monkey is neutered, he was still trying to harrass her. I didn't let them out of my sight (one always in my arms) through the whole time. UGH! But we lived and learned and I still cried and cried and cried on Monkey the whole time she was in for her spay. Praise God I got the courage to do the right thing for her finally even if I was a might dense in the beginning! :D |
1 Attachment(s) Thanks everyone :) here is a little picture of her stitches (took on my phone so not the best of pics sorry). She has been wearing long tops to try and keep her from getting at the stitches, but the morning after spay day I woke to find she had cleaned all the blood off her tummy. She hasn't bothered with the stitches since. She will have them taken out on Saturday 16th and they seem to be healing well. This picture was taken on Friday (day after spay day). Attachment 348452 |
The stitches dont look bad. Hoping that ya'll will hold my hand next week,it is Mina's turn and ya Im not liking the idea. Trying not to dwell,but it is hard. I will start a thread after I drop her off on Wednesday morning. Keep us updated on how your baby is doing. It sounds like she is recovering and will be chasing you through the house again soon. |
Thank you, she is doing well. A little slower then usual but still wanting to play a little and she is now eating well. Will pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for Mina. |
