| What to do when its hot outside It's already summer time now and it seems like it came way to quick. We just finished bentleys shots and started heart worm meds and its already way to hot to bring him outside. Temps of over 100 degrees here in Arizona, and honestly i wont even go outside. I feel bad because he used to be super active, he's still a puppy! but over the last few days i've noticed that all we do is lay around in bed. What do you guys like to do with your pups when it's too hot to play outside? I just wanna get out and do something with him but its just so unbelievable hot outside |

| It's been too hot to go outside here, too, mid to upper 90's and I don't go outside when it's that hot. Samantha is very active and she gets plenty of exercise playing inside, I think. She will toss and chase a toy for a long time and I play with her a lot, too. My Chi, Lavender, plays with her and they bark at each other and do zoomies together and have a great time. My older gentleman Bichon, Cosmo, just stays out of the way! Jeanette |

| This week has been really bad for Phoenix and Tucson areas - 110 for the high down here in Tucson today and a little warmer up your way. We stay inside and play, play, play. I found a toy that they both really like to chase and I sit on the floor reading my book while throwing the toy for them to chase and retrieve. We do go out on the back patio either really early in the morning or later in the evening. I give them each an ice cube to chew on while we are outside. When the cubes are gone - we go back inside. |

| Me and Callie play chase around the house, we play with toys and her favorite thing to do all the time is chew on bones. I wish they had like a dog park with air conditioning that would be nice. Some yorkies like to swim.

| I have a baby pool that I put up on the back deck and dunk them into so they can cool off. they are not big fans of it but at least they can be outside with me. I have a little throw rug for them to lie on and dry themselves on. After awhile we head back into the air conditioning.

| We do a little yard work in the morning, before 10am. The dogs chase each other in the house. Mina and I play chase by running from den, through my foyer and formal dining room,to the kitchen and back to the den. I get a little exercise too. Ive been wearing a pedometer so yesterday I carried her on our house course, she went to sleep, had some mommy time and mom got some exercise. About every other day I take each of the dogs into the pool for a swim. I have older dogs with CT,we are working on getting them to a better weight (me too). They all get cool and wet and then lay on the back porche while it is my turn. By the time I am done, they are dry and we all go back inside. Its kinda hot here in TX too |

| I keep my dogs out in the morning hours when it's still cool and then they play inside until the late afternoon when it cools down again. In the meantime they play and nap indoors where we have central air. My shih tzu is terrifired of getting groomed so I don't know how I'm going to manage this. Last time I had him groomed it took him a week to get over it. Zach our Yorkie's hair is not too thick right now and Zoe our Shorkie does not have a thick coat either. |

| We had a few really hot days here too recently. 98-100 which was unusual for May here. My dad grew up in Phoenix and recalls the hot hot hot days. Jackson is a water freak, so baby pools, lakes, whatever be finds he's in it. My dad has an inground pool we visit a few times a week. Indoors we do lots of chase! He runs with a toy in his mouth and I say "I'm gonna get ya!" and chase him, LOL. Oh and lots of clicker training/trick training.

The humidity here is what kills us. If there's not water involved, Jackson doesn't really wanna do anything. So summer exercise is usually swimming. Very lucky he loves it so much and that my dad has a nice in-ground pool. I just buy one of those Intex pools that's almost 3ft deep but it's not set up right, yet. But it seems pretty easy to do. PS - this thread is old.

| We go for early walks before 8, and play outside until about 10am, then inside the rest of the day. We are always over 100 in the summer, been steady over 100 for last month, will last until September. |

YT 2000 Club Member | We play fetch and rough house inside during the heat of the day. In the evenings, I take them out for a short walk or to play in the shade for a short time. They love to run and play in the grass! Mine sleep alot during the day and are all ready to play hard from 5:00 to about 8:00. Then they settle in and snooze until bed time.
