| As long as your vet is experienced in spaying small animals, she is not too small- also make sure they do all pre testing bloodwork, that is very important. She will likely be in a little bit of pain, but the vet should provide pain meds to ease that and with plenty of rest, she will be back to herself in no time. Good Luck to your little one.

| Hopefully this can calm you down. My baby girl is currently 2 and a little over 3 pounds right now...she was around 3 pounds when she got spayed (1 years old). She did fine!

| My little yorkie peanut weighs 2.5 lbs. She will be 1 this July 21st. I too was a little worried about getting peanut fixed, but it worked out great. They did microsurgery on her. She layed around and slept for about 3 days and was a little tender too. She took it really easy for that whole week, but then was back to her spify self. Glad the blood work came back good. Best of luck. |

| I don't blame you a bit for being worried. No matter their size we worry! Your pic is showing in your avitar and she is just as cute as a bug! Do let us know how she does

| Research your vet if you don't know him/her very well! My step-mom had a tiny pomeranian whose kidney shut down just days after she was spayed. No one "officially" confirmed anything but it was suspected this happend bc of the anesthesia (anesthesia can cause renal failure in humans). We aren't sure if she was given too much or if this was just a "fluke" but thankfully the pom pulled through 2 or 3 surgeries and is living happily with just one kidney. Sorry if this scares you, it's very rare for this to happen and I'm sure your baby will be fine going by what others have said. Last edited by Gabs; 06-14-2011 at 09:14 PM. |

| glad to hear that your furbaby's bloodwork came back good. i adopted my now 1 year old pixie last october from a humane society. the humane society had her spayed at only 4 months old and she weighed exactly 2 pounds. in my opinion, that was way too young, but she came through just fine. after adoption when she went to my dogtor, i was told that she got a hernia from the spay, but it was fixed and has healed up 100%. you cannot even tell that she had it now. she also had a surgery to remove her retained baby teeth at 8.5 months old weighing 2.5 pounds that she came through just fine. we had full bloodwork and heart test before the dental surgery. i was so worried too, so i know what you're going through. so yes she will be in some pain afterwards but she will get pain meds and antibiotics after surgery and you will get her through!!! spaying her now is way better than having a tumor in her female organs at a later age and needing emergency surgery. so it is in her best interest to do the spay before any problems arise. wishing you the best of luck and will keep your furbaby in my thoughts and prayers, especially on friday. keep us posted on how she is doing. ~ hugs ~ carrie
