the are little bugs (like a mite) that live in grass and the woods. They bite and leave little red whelps that itch like crazy. I remember as a kid we would be covered in bites whenever we would go into the mountains hiking and such.

U caught me... Yes I'm a city girl.... LOL but I my family is from the south and the never mentioned chiggers..... Wow we learn something new everyday!

I am a northerner as well and I was about to ask what chiggers are!

I was teasing.. I think they are only problems in undeveloped areas..like the woods or a mountain trail.. or Rosie's back yard
The bites itch like crazy!!

I now live in South Florida and have not seen any that I can remember. Of course I live in a developed area.

My daughters live in down town chicago.. you are a "mid westerner" lol
We are visiting the week of July 4th .. I was wishing there may be a "meet up" but I think most people are gone visiting family or on vacation

Well, we have woods all around us!! What were we thinking! Lets see...snakes, skunks, squirrels, raccoons, chiggers....we were not thinking!!

I lived in town my entire life. My parents moved to the country. As they continue to get older and deal with health issues, I kept thinking I needed to move closer. So, the property across the street came up for sale. We bought it, built a house, and now my parents drive me crazy!! It has been an adjustment from town living to country living. I have cows for neighbors!!!!

Could be an ant bite. I would definitely try the benedryl. You could also try something topical for itching on the spot. Try to distract her with a chew toy so that she leaves it alone.

lol... I am sure it has been an adjustment. My dh dragged me kicking and screaming to south florida. I am small town girl all the way. I cried the first time I drove to the store in Miami -- and that was 25 years ago when traffic was light compared to now I got a job teaching in an inter city high school.. boy that was a trip. I guess we do things we never thought we could do. Like chase cows!!!
