well.... interesting points. I do think when a statement is made without any "wiggle room" it is most likely wrong. I feel the right answer always has exceptions. I would be interested in a new thread to discuss the asking for price issue.

But back to the op.... If you want control of the placement of you yorkie you could post in the yorkies for sale.. or you could talk to your groomer and vet (they may know someone who wants a yorkie and would make a great yorkie parent). I do agree.... PLEASE stay away from cl or fb.

If you don't mind giving up the control and you want to KNOW you yorkie has a good home a good rescue would be the answer. I would feel confident going to ladyjane of YHR if I had to place my dog. I know the good of the dog is always first.

Of course, price is a factor when discussing these things..but it just hits me wrong if the first sentence is "how much for a puppy?...
I used to like to ask..."what are you hoping to find, and that was a opening for a price range...when anyone said they would only consider the pick of the litter, or tiniest girl/boy....it was over...but when a person said they wanted a companion to love and they had a limited budget..then I would continue to talk with them...

Yes, this is about rehoming a dog. Even rescue organizations have a charge, some more than others, and it's good to know what you're talking about. I, too, think that asking the price relates to what I'm willing to spend on what's presented to me, not necessarily what I'm able to afford.

I have had to rehome a much-loved dog because of a situation I didn't cause and couldn't change and it's very traumatic. I adopted a little long-haired Chihuahua last September (after the loss of my precious Bichon, Lacy) from a local rescue group and it was great. They did all the right things and she is the sweetest little dog ever. If I needed to find a home for a dog now, I would definitely contact a rescue group first. That's what they do ... and most of them do it well.
