I totally agree! I have seen you post a similiar statement on another thread in reference to the size/mix issue and incase you don't realize it to us that do own larger YORKIES it is offensive to think we are so naive and don't know what kind of dog we bought and own.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I REALLY have to wonder about a few statements here - Based on what I've been reading and we see this too often ..size DOES have something to do with health....lately there have been TOO MANY posts about yorkies with Liver Shunt, LP and other problems - It seems to be affecting very small yorkies vs. the larger ones Some of the posts are heartbreaking because these little yorkies ARE so small the worry is over not only having surgery - BUT the anesthetic affecting them due to their size.... ps....I have a larger yorkie, Chanel. She most def is not a silky and I am perfectly happy with her size. |

| Potential Teapot I did my research before ever buying and bringing Pixie home last Feb. but boy did I have a lot more to learn! When I lost her in Sept. it was due to a freak accident, but one that she most likely would have survived if not for her tiny size. My poor Pixie was having a lot of health problems due to her size, hypoglycemia, luxating patellas, second row of teeth that no vet would consent to treat because of the anesthesia threat. Before she died she had been in her first heat for 2 months straight. I was spoon feeding her baby food because the vet agreed If I could get her to put on more weight they would operate. Soooo, after all that you can bet I chose a nice big chunk o' puppy to love when we bought our new little girl. At six weeks she was 1 lb, 14 oz, which was heavier then any of the charts I've seen linked here, so who knows how big she'll turn up? Mom was 6 and dad was 5, so maybe she'll be 11! I am just happy to have a healthy teapot! We finally decided on a name for her, Chloe. Last thing I want to say is a big thank you to all of the regulars who have had Yorkies forever, and are so willing to help & share info with us "newbies" I do a lot more reading than posting, because I know you all know your stuff! Try not to be too hard on the newbie who posted that stuff about size & impurity. I know I have asked some whoppers that had you all saying "duh!" before. We'd rather be kind and keep the newbies here so they can continue to learn rather than run them off. No offense to anyone here, and I hope none is taken by anyone. I just know this is a valuable resource for a yorkie owner, and would hate to see it go sour with negative posts!

http://www.shooterdog.com/alex.htm The article I posted came from this website. This woman was hardly someone with a whacky opinion. And I am not the one that mentioned Silky. The only reason I posted this information is I thought her description of the teacup term and her unemotional approach to size difference was good. People can and should be happy with the size of their Yorkies. I think we can do that without bashing people that use the teacup term or own smaller Yorkies.

I don't think that was me. Sorry if you were offended by my posting though it wasn't may "opinion". It was that of a respected Yorkie breeder. I think it is interesting that one breed of dogs look so different and range in size so much. I posted her website as one explaination for it.

And to round up some "teapot yorkie" club members! Oh yea, and Harley wanted me to tell you that he has so graciously deemed himself president! So lets keep on searching for more teapots and spread our grins a little bit wider!

| I've got one too! Hello, I'm new here and I was reading through the post and I have to say I've got a teapot Yorkee too! Tiffy she is 11.5 months old and weighs around 8 lbs. and I also have Teddy, he is 13.5 months old and he weighs around 4.5 to 5 lbs. He is the Yorkee as you all say and she is the silky. Can I ask is she a real Yorkee even tho she is the silky (They both are AKC)? Or is it Teddy? He has the wirey hair and I noticed you all talking about them. I hope it is fine to mate them with each other for this is what I plan on doing. When they get old enough. I also have lots of other questions. They are my dolls and I love them to peices my husband bought Teddy for me 1st for X-Mas (I've wanted them for a long time!) and we got him the week of Thanksgiving I was tickled pink! He was so very small tho and little only weighing 1.5 lbs. @ 6 weeks old. Then we found Tiffy and she came to us after X-mas in Jan. she was so much bigger then him... I was like are you sure she is a Yorkee? She looked different then him. (You'll see in the photo (If it shows up and I loaded it right lol.) how different their sizes are but now that I've read some of the post I'm glad that she is bigger.Teddy is the one with the pony tail (On the right) and he was 3 months old and weighed 3 lbs. 2 ozs. Tiffy (On the left) was 7 weeks old and weighed 3 lbs. 3 ozs. But now that they both are older to be truthful I like her hair better then his, it's easier to care for to keep up in a ponytail and no matts. His is so dry and matts so easy. Her's looks like silk and his looks like you threw him in the dryer with no fabric softner. LOL. But that is how they look. I love them both and they along with my 4 daughters are my life! Thanks and Hugs, Lee |

Regarding your other question about mating them with each other, I hope some more knowledgeable breeders can post here and tell you the things you need to watch out for when mating two Yorkies. Its not as easy as just mating two adorable dogs - there are a lot of genetic issues you should screen for and be careful of. Hope this helps!
