| Puppy Classes I took Gizmo to our outdoor mall yesterday because it was gorgeous and because we're working on him walking on a leash. Anyway, we did our typical route that he's use to and then went into the Coach store with him (it's my addiction, Coach purses -.-). Anyway, there's a womanclerk in there that I try to avoid simply because when we went in there before, she was asking about where Gizmo came from and I explained that he was a Puppymill/BYB pet store rescue. Well, she just didn't get it and was kind of arguing with me that all the puppies there were just from breeders that couldn't sell them...Yeah, needless to say, I try to stay away from that store when she is there. Anyway, we went in there, I thought I didn't see her however she came around from the back and started talking to us. While we were talking, another young puppy came in and got Gizmo's attention. One of the few bad habits that Giz has (and I use bad habit lightly simply because I think it's him acting like a dog) he'll assume every dog is there to play with him and will kind of whine and bark at the dog if he or she isn't playing with him. Well, after asking the owner if it's okay that Gizmo approaches the dog, he said yes and I let Giz walk up and lick and sniff the other puppy. Well, then it turned into Giz pounching and trying to play with the puppy and the puppy just wasn't interested. So, Giz was yipping trying to get her to play. I picked him up while he was barking and just was getting him to calm down. After a few seconds and a few "No's!" from me, the store clerk looked at me and says "Wow, I thought you were taking him to puppy classes for obedience." I just looked at her and was about to respond that I promise to take my dog to puppy classes, only if she promises to go to a manner's class but my husband hauled me out of the store. He must have seen the expression on my face to know what was about to come out of my mouth. Maybe I'm being a little oversensitive, which I doubt because I'm about as sensitive as steel wool. But, I wish people would learn to shut their mouths, or at least think before they speak. I guess it just ranks right up there with the "teacup" comment.

| Tell her puppy is young...and a dog. Then ask her what HER excuse is.

| You must get the same look on your face that I do right before the husband steps in!! If she works in sales, she really needs to work on pleasant customer relations - snide comments do not help build relations w your customer! |

| So thats my problem... apparently I need a husband to keep my mouth shut in situations like that! Yes, I would have so told her off... and then Roseii would have given me the "Oh No" look again... I swear she gets more embarrassed for me then I do. When its her high energy that is being questioned. I may never go back in a certain store because a clerk told me I should but my baby on puppy downers. I told her what she could do with her puppy downers, and it wasn't giving them to my dog. |

| I agree with all of you. Heaven forbid my Yorkie wants to play with other dogs and not just be some accessory. I hope she never gets a dog. Poor thing won't be able to yip without being yelled at for misbehaving.

| Can I play devils advocate for just 1 second? Knowing Giz would want to play with the pup, did you stop to think maybe inside the Coach store wasn't the right place for him to meet and greet other puppies? Kaji is the exact same way, minus the barking. I take him with me everywhere I can. In a situation such as that one, I would wait for both dogs to be outside for them to play around.

| Point taken. Normally I wouldn't have let him in the store to play with the other dog, but I was talking with the other puppy's owners and if they said that their puppy wouldn't have been okay with Giz sniffing their puppy I would have walked out of the store and waited for them to leave so I could go in.
