				   |      With ACA all you need to do is send them a check!  They don't even require a photo of the pet or a witness signature!    To register your pup with AKC, it doesn't require anything but a check/$$ also...meaning they don't require a photo or witness... I've heard (don't know any personally) of breeders saying there were more pups born to a litter just to get more puppy papers then passing off a pup (of near age) as being AKC registered. Sadly it takes all kind I guess.

 Yes, I too have heard of some breeders passing off another pup (non AKC) from another litter into an AKC litter. However, all one needs to do is report it and an investigation will be conducted (DNA).
