| Tall and skinny Yorkie Have a question for the long time Yorkie people, I have my first Yorkie, Keno 7 months who is tall,,,,12 inches and skinny. His legs go on forever. He has a perfect coat and is from a 6lbs male and 7lb female. I saw both parents. My question is how did this happen. Keno is neutered and goes at 9 lbs. He is smart and a keeper. I wanted a small yorkie, 6lbs or so. But, like I said he is a keeper, so he is just right..... |

| The breed standard doesn't mean that every Yorkie born will fall in line with that. It's a goal that breeders go for. Moshe was born 12/21/10 and he is already 5.2 pounds. He will most defiantly be bigger than standard. I like it, more muscle mass and weight means he can rough house with my other two and I don't have to worry so much that he may be hurt.

| You'll have to post some pics of Keno - we love pics! I have a long-legged girl myself. I think it makes them look graceful. She is only 4 lbs so I worry about how tiny she is a lot. I think with a little bigger I wouldn't worry quite as much, plus I think they are a little more athletic as a whole if they are bigger. |

Riley just weighed in at 8.5 pounds. His Momma was 8 and His Daddy was 4. I LOVE that he is bigger because of the rough housing, etc. as well!! | |

| Daisy has long legs and is a little over the standard weight. She is a very delicate and graceful little girl with a beautiful, long coat and pretty face. I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, breeders don't sell their "show quality" dogs that are "spot-on" within the standard (in size and every other aspect ) to the "customer"...only the more out of standard pups. They keep the show quality yorkies for themselves. I would rather have a slightly bigger yorkie that turned out well than a tiny one that didn't. I don't know how long you have been a member of this site. But if you keep reading about all the trials and tribulations folks on this site have with a lot of the smaller yorkies (and I'm not just talking about "tinies" I'm also talking about a lot of the smaller standard sized ones as well).....I promise.....you will thank the heavens that your dog is a little more of a hardy size. Just be happy and love your little dog. |

| Gizmo is long legged. But I guess that's fitting. I'm 6'1 so I need a long legged dog so I can say he gets his long legs from his Momma!!! Hehe! Makes you wonder if the long legs are an indication of a teapot!!

| Zach has long legs also. He weighs about 6 and a half pounds but I don't know how tall he is. My friend calls him Chicken Legs. |
