I just recently had Taycie groomed and I was super frustrated when I picked her up. I SPECIFICALLY said don't touch the nose, I am trying to let it grow.. so what do you think she did??? Oh she touched it alright and cut a dent into right between her eyes! It was like opps! I remember I wasn't supposed to do that! I was so mad!

Thankfully, being a hair dresser myself, I took some thinning shears to that spot and blended it in, but I thought come on! I even saw you write it down! Not to mention I took 2 pictures in!

She also cut her eyebrows and she told me they are still growing eventually they will be in her top knot.. I said, that's strange? They were in her top knot this morning when I dropped her off. Maybe hair shrinks now?

Yes, thankfully it does grow back!
Thank you for that, I laughed out loud! I LOVE the sarcasm in there.

I am glad I'm not alone here. Funny part is that I'm more upset about HER bad haircut than I am over my own. I go "eh it grows back whatever no big deal" when it comes to me, but when I saw my baby I almost had a heart attack.

My mum just admitted she was in too much shock at the time to raise much of a fuss about it. She just couldn't believe it!

I understand!!! I am awful to my hair.. being a stylist you beat the heck out of it! But with Taycie, I was really upset! I will say once the "newness" wears off in a couple of days and does not look like,"I just got a haircut," it does look better.

And.. I am think I am going to tackle self grooming from now on. I do cut hair after all.. I bet I can pick it up rather quickly. And, I think if I mess up I am not going to be out $45 and a bad haircut!

Aww...it will grow back! Growing out facial hair is a pain - we are in that process (again)! I can't ever make up my mind if I want Levi to have longer hair or shorter hair.

To keep her hair from poking her in the eyes as it grows back takes daily care. For Levi, I use a comb and a damp baby washcloth to move those pesky little hairs away from his eyes once or twice a day. He hates it!

Thank you for the tips! I will be sure to apply them.

Aww, I bet your baby is still a beauty! That's one of the reasons I bought my own grooming table and clippers. Jazi's too young still but she gets on the table every day for her brushing to get her used to it. I've been practicing on my Cairn Terrier...she's a Diva and LOVES to be groomed.

I am so sorry! This is always my worst fear when taking Bella to the groomer. Thankfully we have an awesome groomer and if she weren't there, I would refuse to leave her.

Although it is hair, and it will grow back, it just takes so long to get there again. That's the part that would make me sad.

Default from the groomers perspective

you should call and let them know you are disappointed. even if you never go back. there is nothing worse than a long time customer just disappearing and never knowing why. if it was not your usual groomer, many things could have gone wrong. translation of grooming instructions, and every groomer has a different style. let them know. they cant fix it if they don't know its wrong. but I don't blame you for being disappointed. I recently gave my baby a very short trim. I seen it on another yorkie and loved it. not so happy now. but it will grow back, it just takes time. you do need to remember that these little creatures react to our energy. so if you behave like you "hate the cut", or she looks 'bad' or 'funny', she will behave sad or embarrassed.
okay. as far as keeping hair from poking your babies eyes, you will need to be diligent. comb the fur away from the eyes. it will take time, but the hair can be trained. I actually had a client that always used to shave the hair from in front of her yorkies eyes, she allowed me to stop shaving and grow it out. it took work on her part at home, but it lays very nicely now. good luck.

I'll make sure the groomer we go to next knows exactly what they are doing... I mean business lol.

To be honest, I wouldn't even really care so much if it weren't for the fact I am worried about her eyes! Hair grows back, no biggie. Sure she'd look like a freak for awhile, but that's okay. She's still pretty adorable, especially with that personality! However, I am bothered by the fact that the regrow process could cause her potential pain and possible eye problems...

Anyone ever experience problems with growing back hair near the eyes? If so, how did you solve it?
Yes, that happened to my little Betty Boop. It was a groomer who was supposed to have been a handler and had show dogs!! She shaved down to the skin around her eyes. It looked really strange.....bald. Boop's hair grows very slow and so it is still growing out. It is about an inch long now. However, her hair has not poked her in the eyes or even bothered her much. I am training it to go in the direction it should be growing. I think this is crucial; otherwise, it wants to grow downward as part of her mustache. I use gel to help paste it.

Sorry to hear about your poor grooming experience. I know hair grows back, but what a shock it is when you first see them this way!

I read somewhere to use vaseline to keep the hairs around the eyes in place. I have not tried it, so can't say how well it works.

This is a good point. I will let them know.

However, I don't think pink bald spots are a "different style." There really is no style for random tiny bald spots on my baby's face lol.

Luckily Rylie's hair grows fast. She does not have a silky yorkie coat (being a mix and all), so I expect her hair will be back to normal faster than most pups.

You can bet your bum if she had a silk coat that I would have been having a conniption at the groomer's I've heard how long it takes to grow those coats out!

I woke up to my baby's face this morning (as usual) and the more time that goes by the less "weird" she looks to me. I'll be used to the cut soon I think.

I bet you just wanted to cry when you saw your baby

I will never forget Alfie's first cut. He had lovely black puppy fur with just a bit of the silver coming through. When I picked him up he didn't even look like my dog, all the black had been cut off and he was a different colour. I cried. The groomer knows exactly what I want now and he goes in happily and comes out happily.

But I will never forget my baby going in a puppy and coming out a dog.
xx

I feel so bad for you. I have the greatest groomer in the world. She is very good with the boys they love her. She will tell me before hand what she can or can not do. With Oliver it was really hard because he became very stressed being he was only 5 months old. She told be to bring him back on a quiet day and she would be able to work with him. Sure enough when I brought him back he looked great. She said she couldn't groom his face too much because he kept moving his head even with the manager of the place helping her but he looks fine.

Soooooo I didn't mention that the groomer nicked one of my baby's ears because I didn't think it was a huge deal.

However, last night I discovered there was stuff OOZING out of her ear! I took her to the vet immediately today and they said she has an ear infection in one ear and bacteria in both. They said it was most likely caused by the nick and water not being cleaned out of her ears.

I KNOW that issue wasn't there before she went to the groomers. I inspect her every day myself AND she just got the all clear from the vet last week. We were treating a skin issue on her nose with antibiotics prior to this and had a follow up visit. Boy were they surprised to see us again!

I am steaming mad.

On another note, I am very happy we have insurance to help cover this. We will be filing our first claims soon.

Oh Riley I am so sorry to hear this but I still think you are the most beautiful girl in the world! Love Buster
I am sorry to hear about the incident especially the ear infection poor baby. Your poor Mom I understand, sometimes you are so shocked you do not know what to say. I hope her ears clear up soon and she is not too uncomfortable.

hello! I use to cut my s**tzu's hair by my self.. just got clippers and practiced with the longer comb until i got use to which one i liked. Rascal is 11 months old and never had a hair cut except to trim the beard shorter but not all the way off and i did get the length cut up to about a inch from belly but no were else. I wish i hadnt done that but now im waiting on length to grow back long again. But i told the groomer rascal is more calmer when im aroun and since being his first time could i stay. she let me and i even helped hold him. but since im letting the belly grow back out and dont want his face or legs touched, i clip with small sciccors my self. At first he would snap at me to even hold them up to him.I just kept tryimg, let him smell around on them and rub them acroos him without cutting to show him they wouldnt hurt him, Now i just trim around the pads of his ft. lots of times when he is sleeping, under the tail and the eyes i let the little stragglys stays up the nose some but the little peices right in the corner of the eye i just do one snip right in the corner and thats it. He will stand there and squint(ha) like a kid would but he lets me do it. I also had given him a visor right above eyes cause it was hanging down so bad.. but i want it long too so i can pull it up..so i have to wait on it to grow too.. I guess we learn as we go...im afraid to leave him without me being there to watch!!
