YT Addict | new to YT :D Hey everyone, Just wanted to say hi! I just bought my first Yorkie three days ago, after a very long search for the perfect one! Her name is Tikka and she's 8 months old. She weighs in at around 7lbs although she came to me quite chubby as her bowl at home was ALWAYS full and she never went on walks. So she is currently adjusting to a food and walk schedule She is crazy... to say the least. Going on walks she sits down EVERY time someone passes us, just waiting for them to stop and tell her she's cute. Then she continues on her walk. She loves to pull and walk in a zig zag sniffing EVERYTHING. But in the 3 days I've had her, we are already seeing improvement, I take her to the ball diamond to practice off leash walking and commands! She LOVES giving kisses to my husband, and sleeping in my lap. At night she sleeps between our pillows at our heads! Tikka is a brand of high power rifle, not sure why her previous owners named her that, but before I could even mention changing it, my husband told me he loved her name and he wanted to keep it, so welcome home Tikka! I also have Pooter, a pomeranian weighing in at 5lbs that I got this past October, he is 2 and half and has come a very long way since I got him. He was given to me for free after I posted a Want Ad for a small breed dog willing to pay even! He came to me un-housebroken, knew no commands, and with a matted back half full of feces and dirt as his owner didn't realize the maintance his coat would take. So I combed, cut, oiled, and worked on his coat until it was fixed, along with a successful housetraining method that only took 3 days, and he is completely housebroken now. He now knows Sit, Paw, Bang!, Down, Up, Dance Check out my album for pictures of them! I believe it's public so you all can see. Hoping to learn lots here! As I believe my yorkie journey has just began! Lol Thanks, Ash. Tikka, and Pooter! Oh and a little snippet about me I guess... I'm 21 in June, I got married July 4th, 2010, I am a housewife/photographer/animal lover. I am originally from Iowa, currently living in Alberta, Canada. I met my husband while living in Hawai'i But I'm not nearly as interesting as Tikka and Pooter! |

YT Addict | thanks both of you! pooter is a real catch for whatever reason after 3 days of taking him out every 3hours he just caught on he only had two accidents. now he goes out about every 4-5 hours and he sleeps in my bed at night without any accidents! I use the phrase "wanna go outside!?" at potty time and if he has to go he run circles around me and jumps lol! if he doesn't have to go he just ignores me Tikka however is a tougher case as she is housetrained to run loose in a fenced yard which we don't have so I have to take her out on a leash... so far she doesn't understand going potty on a leash she simply goes by the door! we are working on it I'll let you know what works for that type of transition! and thank I'm glad I got a chance to give Pooter a better life too! and there will muuuch more of tikka to come! |
