| ![]() This story has brought a tear to my eye. How wonderful of you to have rescued this baby. I honestly do not think you're being selfish. The condition that she is in seems like its fixable and I know you have the patience and heart to do so. I think, if you trust your vet, that you need to get their opinion. See what they suggest, if she is in fact just a nervous wreck and not in pain. I think you've gained another good friend with little Ms. Lucy.

| ![]() I don't think you are being selfish either. I say make what's ever left her life the greatest. I too adopted a senior. While her health issues weren't nearly as bad as yours, she too was used for breeding and dumped after she no longer was a money maker. I promised her that she would live the rest of her as a spoiled diva and boy I did create a monster. As long as she is not in any chronic pain and she has some quality of life, I say go for it. And thank you for rescuing her, you are her guardian angel. |

| ![]() Good for you! Seniors are very special. You've already figured that out. They deserve the chance at a nice life. You'd be surprised at how much life a senior can have left, even one with multiple medical problems. I think you're wonderful and, of course, so does she! ![]()

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am so thankful Lucy is safe with you for how ever long she has with you. My Nikki is estimated to be 17 year old and was found on the streets in bad shape. I have had him a year now and he is attached to my side. He is almost blind, gets confused and has started pacing at night. He will be starting on the Anipyrl soon. I am hoping like you that it will buy him some quality time. You are doing a wonderful thing for Lucy and the time spent with you will be so special as she will be loved and cared for. You're an angel.

| ![]() As long as she won't be living in pain and suffering, it would be a lovely and loving gesture to help thie little lady and give her a loving home so she could finally know love and caring exist. You probably want to get some assurance from your vet that a lot of painful treatment would not be just prolonging her misery but that he would solemnly vow to keep her pain under control during her surgical post-op period and recuperation as this poor dog has obviously suffered enough in this life. She is obviously a real little trooper with a strong will to live and the Lord knows she deserves to have a real life with someone who puts her well being above all else. Thank you for having a caring heart and such a generous spirit.

| ![]() I would keep her! Like you said humans haven't done right by her. For all of the years she gave some dumb bunnies babies to make them money, she now deserves a chance to know real love, trust, friendship. If you are willing, go for it...you know her issues, you understand them, you very well could be her last hope. It warms my heart to hear a story like this...give both of you some happiness. Welcome to the forum!!

| ![]() Thank you so much for giving this baby something she has never had. Unconditional love. Keep her, love her until her last breath, and spoil her rotten. Let her know that all humans are not as bad as what she has experienced in her little life. I also have one with dementia and its not easy by a long shot. But, I would not give up on her for nothing. Go with your heart and give that baby all she deserves. Nothing or no one deserves what she has probably had to go through in her life. Keep us up on Lucy's new life. |

| ![]() Like everyone else, I agree, I think you are an angel, and little Lucy is blessed that you found her. As with everyone else, spoil and love her every second you can. I work as an ICU nurse, as a fairly new yorkie mama, I dread the day my little Furgie leaves me, cause I anticipate it is going to be excruciating. You mentioned she love to follow you around...and multiple medical issues.....what does your vet recommend, does she appear she is comfortable and happy, or with the love and care needed, is this a possibility? With exception of the dementia, are the toenails and teeth something that she can recover from? Do you have the funds? Do you have the time to give her that she needs? Just things to think about, quality vs quantity. Good luck, not easy....but thank god she has you!!!!!! Kills me how some people can be so cruel! Don't let me find out and be their nurse!!!! ![]() ![]()

My Alexander (RIP) suffered from Canine Cognitive Disorder also. He took Anipryl which did help. It wasn't a perfect answer, but it made him more aware....less lost....and helped reduce the pacing and the fear. Hugs to you and Lucy. Bless you for giving this girl a chance! Bonny

| ![]() Along with the advice and heart-felt accolades offered from everyone, I also want to caution you to understand that even after doing everything right, you may still lose this poor girl. There is no way to completly armour-coat your heart against the pain that may come, but try to view this as taking her life one day at a time. You are going to show her a loving life -- something she has probably NEVER known -- one day at a time. That is priceless! If you could give her just one day of love and pampering to know kindness -- that would be worth it, right? So, every day is a gift! Thank God for sending you to find this poor little abused girl. ![]() ![]()
