| Any one used Veterinary Opthalmology Services in Nashville? We have an appointment in the morning @ 9:30 to have Paisley's eye looked at. We have seen our regular vet 4 times without improvement and he said a specialist is our best option. She started off with what just looked like winking. We had our well checkup since I had just gotten her and everything checked out great. Next day still winking so I thought she needed her hair trimmed since it might be poking her eye. Our groomer gave her a little snip and off we went. Still winkey. Friday back to the vet we went. He said she had an ulcer after doing a stain test. He gave us medicine to use and said to come back on Monday for a recheck. I gave the drops around the clock just like he said and I was sure it would be gone. Monday' check showed the ulcer now covers all her eye. No improvement He also did a tear test and she is producing ZERO tears in that eye. We were given 2 more medicines to use for a total of 4. She was to wear her cone at all times. Another recheck on Friday. He asked me if a specialist would be an option for us if she didn't get better. I said we will find the money somewhere if that is what she needs. He said give it till Friday and then we can decide. Friday's visit still no improvement. Zero tear production. My vet thinks it is a result of an autoimmune disorder but wants us to visit Nashville. Thankfully I am off of work because this is Spring break. He said what day could you go and I said I will be there Monday morning. He laughed and said we'll see what they have available, I said tell them I will be there Monday morning. Luckily we got in Monday morning. I know this has been a long post but I want to know if anyone has used them and what did you think? I know everyone here loves their fur babies and my other friends just don't get it. They say I have lost my mind to spend money on a specialist. I think they are crazy for not having a Yorkie in their life! If you remember tomorrow please say a little prayer for her and the doctor who is taking care of her. I am hoping that they are yorkie parents too. Even after all my experience as a pediatric nurse, and a mom to 3 skin kids, I am still scared. I can't tell you how much I have cried. She will lick my face as if to tell me, "mommy it will all be ok." Thanks for listening. I appreciate all the wonderful people I have met here! Laurie Harley Paisley |

| We see the opthamolgist at UT in Knoxville. Maddie has a similar situation. She was on several medications (tacrolimus, cyclosporin, an oral drop I can't remember the name of, and a few other ointments) with no luck producing tears in her left eye. We have decided to have parotid duct transposition in June. I will attach a few threads I have had and link about the surgery. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ns-anyone.html Parotid Duct Transposition Surgery (Excerpts) on Vimeo I wish you the best for tomorrow's visit. I will keep your little guy in prayer, please keep us updated. |

| i'm sorry she's having problems with her eye. I really do believe you are making the right decision in seeing the specialist, where the ulcer is getting worse. You should look into Care Credit. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I'll keep Paisley in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow for good news.

| Update- We are back. Well we saw the specialist this morning and are going to try a stronger prescription eye drop. (Tacrolimus) Also continue the Tobramycin and GenTeal drops. She said Paisley was born with this problem and it is just now manifesting itself. The eye ulceration is caused by the dryness and not because it was scratched. She will always need medication. We will give it three weeks and reevaluate her eye. If medication does not work, our last option is the operation. Weather was horrible coming back but she slept all the way. It was probably because we have to medicate her before travel since she gets so car sick. The Cerenia is a miracle medicine! Gave it last night at bedtime and it worked all day. Dr. Amity Huskey was so kind and gently with Paisley. All the staff we met were great too. Nice facility and ultra clean. The other patients talked about what great care their dogs had been given. I am happy we chose to go there. Now we will wait and see if this new medicine will help her. Thanks all of you who had kind words and who said a prayer for her. She sends sweet doggie kisses. Hopefully we will update with good news next time. xoxo Laurie & Paisley |

LadyMom's Lady had wonderful results with Tacrolimus. I hope you find the same good results. I am *so* glad you were happy with Dr. Huskey and he was good with Paisley. | |
