Any one used Veterinary Opthalmology Services in Nashville?
We have an appointment in the morning @ 9:30 to have Paisley's eye looked at. We have seen our regular vet 4 times without improvement and he said a specialist is our best option. She started off with what just looked like winking. We had our well checkup since I had just gotten her and everything checked out great. Next day still winking so I thought she needed her hair trimmed since it might be poking her eye. Our groomer gave her a little snip and off we went. Still winkey
. Friday back to the vet we went. He said she had an ulcer after doing a stain test. He gave us medicine to use and said to come back on Monday for a recheck. I gave the drops around the clock just like he said and I was sure it would be gone. Monday' check showed the ulcer now covers all her eye. No improvement
He also did a tear test and she is producing ZERO tears in that eye. We were given 2 more medicines to use for a total of 4. She was to wear her cone at all times. Another recheck on Friday. He asked me if a specialist would be an option for us if she didn't get better. I said we will find the money somewhere if that is what she needs. He said give it till Friday and then we can decide. Friday's visit still no improvement. Zero tear production. My vet thinks it is a result of an autoimmune disorder but wants us to visit Nashville. Thankfully I am off of work because this is Spring break. He said what day could you go and I said I will be there Monday morning. He laughed and said we'll see what they have available, I said tell them I will be there Monday morning. Luckily we got in Monday morning.
I know this has been a long post but I want to know if anyone has used them and what did you think? I know everyone here loves their fur babies and my other friends just don't get it. They say I have lost my mind to spend money on a specialist. I think they are crazy for not having a Yorkie in their life!
If you remember tomorrow please say a little prayer for her and the doctor who is taking care of her. I am hoping that they are yorkie parents too. Even after all my experience as a pediatric nurse, and a mom to 3 skin kids, I am still scared.
I can't tell you how much I have cried. She will lick my face as if to tell me, "mommy it will all be ok."
Thanks for listening. I appreciate all the wonderful people I have met here!
