| Hi... We are headed to the beach for spring break and will be visiting Petsmart to stock up. Just wondering what your favorite soft treats are...LucyBelle's current favorites are Zukes. AND...what is your favorite soft food? I stir in a spoon full of soft food with Lucy's dry for her breakfast. (And apparently our orange fuzzy kitty's breakfast, too bc he steals it every THANKS in advance!!!

| YT 1000 Club Member | PMama, There's really a wide variety of "favorites" in our little Furbuddies. But, given where you're going, I just want to mention a thought on the stability of the Treats/Food. Take something that's stable at a variety of temperatures, Canned, Individually Bagged stuff, where Humidity will not play a negative part as well. Have a good vacation, and you may check out... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3433180-post1.html

| I buy lots of different canned foods but the main brands we use are Nature's Variety, Go! Endurance, Natural Balance, and Canidae. I admit, when it comes to traveling... sometimes the easiest to travel with is those little Cesar wet dog food packets, or those Mixable dog food pouches. Because they are easy to use up in one setting whereas a big can has to be kept in the fridge after opening... they are not the healthiest but I will use them when traveling sometimes (esp. if the hotel doesn't have a fridge). Jackson's favorite treats ever are "Canz Real Meat" treats. Unfortunately, I've only found them at ONE local store. You can order them on amazon though. They are really soft, easy to break, and only have 3 ingredients. I've seen a few at Petsmart he really likes, anything that is those freeze-dried one ingredient treats. Also Natures Recipe has some soft small treats he likes.

| Just to clarify...not that it matters, but I reread and it sounds confusing. We live in podunkville south Georgia. Nearest petsmart is well over an hour away. SO...we stock up at petsmart when we go on vacations (beach, etc) near one. That said....a pet supermarket did open up nearby but it doesn't carry the dry food she loves...castor and pollux. THANKS!

| Love Zuke's Mini Naturals here! Best ever since they are not only soft and made for small gods but we used a lot and for the price and quality ingredients they won hands down...we also use plain ol' boiled chicken breast though too. Soft food I read there was a danger of mixing canned food with dry if that's what you meant even though many do it without incident. Other wise soft food-I'm a picky mom wish my skin kids and the adults here ate as good as the dogs do I don't give my dogs grains, red meat or dairy, with the exception of yogurt with live cultures to prevent yeast and bacteria issues... We do a lot of RAW here and BARF (bones and raw food) for health reasons with my dogs-to make their food soft I pour organic free range (yes I'm one of those) chicken broth over their Taste of the Wild Foul kibble and also they all get a vegi and fruit RAW lunch with bits of chicken in it from broth I make myself I just boil down one chicken breast into a heavy broth... I should note I personally don't like giving any canned food except when we had to give meds...Yorkies are prone to dental issues and unless you brush every night canned or wet foods present a real issue...also many dogs love treats like a piece of kibble or some fruits and vegis..mine preform for baby carrots all the time! Just be sure you check toxic for dog foods.

No food should replace basic dental care though. As far as being proven ask your vet about last years releases on the study of wet food vs dry food...UC Davies Veterinary school a foremost authority spearheaded the study note the second link...I cannot find the study online but saw it posted at my vet's office. "(an exert here below) Maintenance Another way to maintain dog oral health is through feeding it dog biscuits or bones that are specially formulated to clean teeth. Hard food also maintains oral health better than soft, wet food, and chew toys will help the dog maintain strong teeth and healthy gums, as well." Complications of Wet Dog Food Dog Teeth Cleaning & Anesthetic | eHow.com dog teeth: Is wet dog food bad dogs teeth? On a personal note: Elvis came to me in teeth in need of immediate care otherwise he would have lost them. He was barely 2 years old and had teeth in the state of a 7+ year old Yorkie the vet said it was specifically due to being fed too much wet food a major problem seen in Yorkies (my vet specialized in small dogs). Although after knowing what I know I don't believe he came from someone who bothered to do any type of dental cleanings at a vets, groomers or who even bothered to brush his teeth or give him dental chews at all, hence his extreme issues.
