| My poor little girl has just gone into heat and started bleeding about 5 days ago. I have been keeping a diaper on her all the time so my male doesn't get her, and all the reading I have done has said that most of the time during the first heat there isnt that much blood...well they were wrong!! She's not bleeding profusely but I think for her size it is a substantial amount. (Excuse the nastiness of the description) I am putting pantyliners in her diaper and changing about every 4 hours. Yesterday the amount of blood that she had was equivelant to the last day of my own cycle. She is between 3.5-4lbs, she is still eating and drinking regularly, half of the day she just wants to lay on me and get loved on and be pitiful, and the other half she is running around like her crazy lil self. Should i be worried? How much blood is too much? |

| Josie is about that size and did not hardly have any. I have no advice except to tell you the diaper will not keep him from her if you are not around 24/7. I tried the diaper, he would bite it off. I tried seperating, he would climb the fence. I finally had them both fixed on her 2nd or 3rd day. Only thing I would suggest is to call your vet on the amount of bleeding. If you don't want babies get her spayed. They can do it while she is in heat. They may charge a little extra cause of the blood. So my vet said. It was only like $25.00 more. |
