| Wavy coats go light?? Does anyone else have a wavy coated yorkie? I think she has a silky coat... Although not as silky as some I've seen. But it seems to be turning white at the roots... Sooo, does that mean that the old adage is true... That wavy coated yorkies have a tendency to go really light? Just curious if anyone had experienced this being true? P.S. I looooove my Lucy and my Lila!! |

| My Chloe has a wavy coat and it has stayed very very dark- she will be two in a few days.

| Tibbe has a cottony, wavy, light coat, almost white on the ends. I accuse him of stealing my L'Oreal.

| Uni has a very silky coat, and is only slightly wavy at her butt, although her butt is lighter than the rest of her. What color eye shine does your yorkie have?

| Not sure what you mean. Tibbe's eyes are brown and that is the cast I see whenever light is reflecting off them. Is that what eye shine is?

| Eye shine on a puppy is usually blue. On a silky haired it is green, and on a cotton coated is usually reddish or orange. The eye shine shows up when light is shined on the eye, indirectly I think, and black part shines bright. It's pretty neat.

| Then the eye shine that comes from Tibbe's eyes is just brown. I see a brown color reflecting off the iris when the sunlight shines on his eyes so I can see the black pupil really well. Now that you mention it, I recall that blue cast coming from puppies eyes when searching for my Yorkies in the past.

| Maci is only 4 mo old so its hard to tell what she will be when all grown up. For now she has silky wavy hair that is turning light as her puppy hair grows out. She has black/brown tips....so cute as if she has a beard. |

| I don't know if this is helpful...Elvis is a Parti Yorkie...he has a cottony coat (is this possible his face is silky though)...the hair on his face and back is straight but everywhere else especially his legs I have to blow straight and literally comb twice a day or it curls (well more so crimps) if there is any moisture or humidity-he's gone into curls.

| Lucy's eye shine is green. That's one (though not the only) reason I've thought she has a silky coat. Although, I'm beginning to think it's more likely that she has a combination coat, because the hair on the very top of her head gets crimped at the roots. It's very weird. At the tips it smooths out, but at the root... A kinky mess! Also she does have shine, especially in low light... But it doesn't really shine like a true silk's does. I do think that the white colored roots that are transitioning from the dark blue color appear to be silkier in texture. It's just sort of hard to say right now. But if she keeps up with the light color she's turning now, I think she'll end up looking more like a Maltese (completely white!) than a Yorkie! |

| It seems like most of the yorkies on here are like that: if they have a cottony coat, the only silky part seems to be the head and feet. Or if it's silky, it's only curly on the booty. I've never really heard of one that was silkier on the body and not so much on the head. It really is just the very top of the head, though. Not the furnishings or beard, or even the eyebrows! It's so very weird. But I do know what y'all mean when you say that the back-end is curly. I call Lucy my little "Curly Butt" cuz I think it's so cute |

| My first yorkie had very wavy, silky hair but it stayed very black. It was actually too black and not the steely blue desired for standard. She was the sweetest little girl though -- would not have traded her for the finest show dog! But I did spay her!
