| I have two boys, and would not trade them for anything, I always had female dogs before getting my boys, and think males are much more lovey dovey, mine are true momma's boys! My Bailey never marks, he was neutered at around 6 months. Jesse doesn't mark either, but wears a belly band because he isn't indoor trained, I got him at age two. I don't think you will ever regret getting a male!

| Thank you all so much for all of your input. It's greatly appreciated. I'm just a nervous first time yorkie mommy . I agree and think it has a lot to do with training. We have an older female Lab that we trained very well and I just felt like I wanted a male this go round. I know I with love him so much. Thanks again! |

| I have one of each also. My girl is 6 years and my baby boy is almost 11 months. We had him neutered at not quite 5 months and he still squats to tinkle in the house. Until this past week I had never seen him lift his leg but I think Soph has been teaching him bad habits . She's actually my leg lifter and will sprinkle every 10 feet when we're out on a walk. Our last walk gulliver was following along behind her and every time she lifted her leg he'd go right behind her and do the same. I firmly believe that getting them neutered early definitely helps. |

| I have to agree with everyone else - I have three yorkies - two boys and one girl. My boys do not mark and they are definitely the lovers! My girl is sweet also but she gives you a quick hug then moves on whereas the boys linger with hugs for hours! O

| I have female dogs. My one yorkie female will only mark when outside. Every few steps she sqauts with one leg up and marks. It is interesting that she does it, but that is how she is. She is pee pad trained indoors and uses them regulary without any problems. I have seen very loving affectionent females too. I think it has to do with how much time you spend with them that they can become very attatched to you. my female is with me.

| If you get him neutered he most likely wont mark in the house. My chachi is neutered and only marks outside

| I have to put my 2 cents in on this one... I originally wanted a girl, but the litter turned out to be two boys. I'm ashamed to say I cried. My son asked me why I didn't want a boy...hmmm... We picked Copper up one year ago yesterday at 11 weeks old. I can't imagine why I ever wanted a girl. He is such a little love bug and very attached to me...love it. I had him neutered at 5 months. He has never marked. Don't worry...you will love a boy and wonder why you hesitated!

| We had several male dogs in the past (GSD, dachshund, x-breeds), not neutered. And there was never any issue with "marking in the house". I just loved their temperament. Could not be happier with my little Pepper Boy! He is neutered, and had/has an occasional accident, but no marking... he leaves that for outdoors only. |

| I would have to agree with the majority. My boy Levi is the big lover, he is almost obsessed with knowing where I am at every moment. Lily is a love also but she is alright with "loving" everyone in the house. She is much more independent than Levi. Levi was neutered at 8 months old and only marks outside.

| My first yorkie was a male ![]() we got him when he was close to 6 months and had him neutered at 9 month and he didn't mark at all inside. he's paper trained and pees like a girl.. he had the whole squatter style down! however he marks every 3rd post when we're outside. If you guys really want a girl, i think you guys should wait! i waited almost 7 months for my little girl!

| I really wanted a girl as well, but found my male, Bevo and fell in love! 2 1/2 years later, I would die if anything ever happened to him. He is MY boy, he follows me everywhere and cuddles so much!! I can not imagine my life without him had I waited for a female. Now as for the marking....I cannot say he is an angel. He is potty pad trained and does excellent 99% of the time. But, he has been known to mark. Usually though, it is when we are gone. Its as if he does it just to let us know hes upset with us for leaving him home!! But, marking here and there occasionaly would still never change my decision for getting a boy!!

| I love my little boy Chewie! He started marking occasionally right before I had him neutered, and since then it hasn't been a problem. He'll sometimes lift his leg to pee, although that's usually on snow. Now that our snow is mostly melted, he's mostly squatting again, silly boy! Don't be nervous about getting a boy--they're fantastic! And consistent training will help with most marking problems you might face.
