Hello everyone,

My name is Sydney and I'm new to YorkieTalk.com. I am planning to add the little one (or two) to my family and this site has so many wonderful information I need for my research. I live in Santa Clara County (Milpitas), CA and work in Foster City, CA. Please feel free to drop me a line to say hello or to share any useful information regarding dog parenting; it is greatly appreciated.

I know just where you are. I used to work in Milpitas but I bet it has changed a LOT since then.

You will find great info here on YT. Take time when you can to read the old threads. There is a wealth of information in the health section so you know just what you are getting into. And potty training can be quite a challenge with these little ones. I first found YT looking for help potty training my little Angel.

Thank you very much for the warm welcome. And yes, Milpitas has grown by leap and bound. Lots of new houses and car dealerships all over the place. The traffic remains constant, though - HORRID!

We love welcoming Yorkie lovers. When do you think you will be getting your baby? I know how the traffic is up your way. We have friends we visit in Hercules, we have a son in Morgan Hill and a son in San Francisco.

I'm researching several reputable breeders right now (N-O-puppy-mills!). I'm hoping to adopt very soon but at the same time, I understand I'm going to be responsible for with another living and breathing being and not getting a new toy so I'm going to make sure I'm fully committed. I can't wait to be a parent of one soon enough.

Heyy Sydney!

I'm from San Jose (Santa Clara County as well)! I just moved 6 months ago to LA for school

Miss the bay a LOT! I would totally suggest that you check out Southbay Yorkie meetups because it's just SO MUCH fun seeing so many yorkies. Even the meetups are better back home

When you get your baby, make sure you start socializing it when it's around 4-5 months old and it will take some time for them to adjust. I highly suggest the dog park on Camden Avenue in South San Jose (it may be somewhat of a drive from you...).

I can't suggest breeders as mine came from byb

I learned, but luckily none of mine were sick or anything (just luxating patella for Carmel). If you're considering adopting, there's a very nice humane society shelter in milpitas!

Good luck on your search! Maybe we can have a playdate when we visit the bay!

We're practically neighbor!. Thank you so much for your wonderful tips. I'm definitely going check out the Southbay Yorkie meetups and take notes. I've heard about the dog park in Camden as friends of mine also live close by and I don't mind making the drive for my little one at all!

Hi Sydney, I'm from Redwood City, I have 6 Yorkies and 2 Chihuahuas!! My favorite meetup is at Ed Levin Park in Milpitas!! You should come by on the second Saturday of the month between 12-2 pm. There will be chihuahuas and yorkies but you will get some questions answered and meet some great people. Good Luck in your search for your new baby!!

I'm studying Psychology. I will definitely msg you when I do go back. It won't be until awhile though...with gas prices so high.

Wow! I wish I can too!

I pet sit two yorkies for a member from yorkie meetup occasionally and have a yorkie that I rescued along with my own. That makes 5 and my bf is already saying OMG.

I would LOVE to have 6 yorkies in the future too!
