| ![]() Took Charlie to the vet and they ran a Ol totalbody function Sa120 K-9 blood panel and did a fecal test wont have results until 1 or 2 this afternoon. they did say that he looks healthy, his abd was soft and his lungs were clear he has a good heart beat so all was good there. His stool is very soft though and today is kind of orange in color. they gave him a AB Cortisteroid injection to increase appetite. they had me take 2 cans of Z/D ultra home to try on him, they said it is possible that he is getting tired of chicken but we still have to look at the symptoms. OMG he weighs 13 pounds ![]() So for now we wait, please continue to pray for him and I will update soon as I get results.

| ![]() Ok so all of Charlies labs came back great except the pancreatic enzyme and the WBC Dr says WBC is elevated to to inflamation caused by the pancreatitis bout. SO cortisteroid shot should take care of the bout. We still have to do the pepcd ac (1/2 every morning) and now I have to find a food he will eat. He did not like or even try the canned food but I knew that he wouldnt. They did suggest some other meats to let him try and they copied some pages out of a book they had with cook at home meals for babies like Charlie so I am ging to look at that. The stool results will not be back until tomorrow but Dr feels the loose stool is due to the pancreatic issue. He is plenty hydrated and she was very impressed with his electrolytes. she was afraid they would be very bad since his diet is mostly just protein but he must be getting enough carbs and vitamins with the fruit and veggies that he does eat so that is good news. I think that covers everything for now. Have to go cook some meat now will check back in later

| ![]() So glad to hear he is doing well. ![]() He'll probably go back to loving the chicken shortly. ![]() It sounds like the vet didn't mention that because high fat foods can trigger pancreatitis, there are many people foods that should never be given to pancreatitis patients including lunch meat. Some meats are fine under the supervision of a vet (lean chicken, sometimes white meat turkey, etc.). If he won't eat the kibble, then he does need to have a balanced homecooked diet (if you want to go that way). A veterinary nutritionist can create a recipe for him. If it isn't balanced, it can lead to very serious health problems over time. Bloodwork is not a great indicator of whether or not a diet is working well. We have dealt with pancreatitis here. My girl does eat homecooked food because she has so many medical issues. It has to be balanced though... If you just put the kibble down that the vet wants your pup on, how long will he go without eating?

Well Charlies diet is mainly boiled chicken the lunch meat he had yesterday and the evening before was just to get him to eat something but it wasnt the cause of the flare. I am vry careful with what I feed him I read labels and everything to make sure the fat content is none or as low as possible. The pages they gave me on home cooked food were very detailed and Ill have to use my diabetic scale to work it out, they did suggest trying to switch to ground turkey to see if he likes that, if I put out the can food down and he doesnt want it, he simply wont eat but as I had said the vet doesnt want him going more than 24 hours without eating anything. I was told this when we were trying to change his food several months ago and believe me he held out so tonite I bought ground sirloin and boiled it then ran it under extremely hot water to rinse off any remaining fat. He ate that right up so it may just be time for a change of meats and then continue the veggies and fruits.

| ![]() Sorry guys yesterday was a booger at work. Still have no stool results they are hoping they come in todat if then then it will be monday I guess because it had to be sent out. Charlie is doing better though, he is loving the ground sirloin and as someone had suggested I added brown rice he is eating that up like candy. he has a happy face again we are doing 1/2 a pepcid ac in the am he does not care for that much lol I guess as a rule we will continue to do that for safety measures. We had terrible storms here last night so the poor thing shook all night long I was afraid that he would relaps from the stress but he seems ok today gobbled up breakfast and is just relaxing now. Soon as I get the results I wll let you guys know. I really do appreciate all the support. Its hard to try and get "non" yorkie people tp understand when these things happen witth hem. I have friends that say "OH just let him ride it out" ![]() ![]() well anyway thank you all Ill talk with you all in a bit

| ![]() I'm sorry Charlie is scared of storms. I hope he continues to improve. It sounds as though he is doing well. Those looked like some awful storms you had.

| ![]() I'm so sorry! It never seems to fail that things like this always happen on Friday night...can he have vegis? Mine are picky eaters but if I eat raw vegis and then hand feed it to them they're all about getting what they perceive as people food...again I know nothing about pancreatitis though.

| ![]() He does eat some veggies but not raw i usually mix them in with the chicken or now i guess it will be the sirloin he is doing prett well though. I have to consider one of those thunder shirts for him though many ppl say they work really well. he just has a terrible time with storms.

| ![]() I saw the commercial for that and the first thing that came to mind was OMYorkies it's an electrocution shirt! ![]() Then I saw it...it's like a magical magnetic bracelet for arthritic people I think...going to get one for Elvis now too as I read epileptics have been using them... I usually do a RAW lunch here but it has been so cold I've been boiling vegis (I was lazy and bought a mix bag of cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots) in chicken broth...they've been going nuts over it! Of course I've been slicing the stem on the broccoli someone told me (dunno if its true or not) that you are less likely to get gassy from it if you slice the stem and boil it-releases gasses or something... So glad to hear he's doing better! We'll keep him in our thoughts and hope it's all blue sky from here. I thought he was pulling a 'my dog's' maneuvers and waiting until Friday at 7 p.m. to ensure all vets have definitely left for the night or weekend before getting ill... Quote:
