He'll probably go back to loving the chicken shortly.

It sounds like the vet didn't mention that because high fat foods can trigger pancreatitis, there are many people foods that should never be given to pancreatitis patients including lunch meat.

Some meats are fine under the supervision of a vet (lean chicken, sometimes white meat turkey, etc.). If he won't eat the kibble, then he does need to have a balanced homecooked diet (if you want to go that way). A veterinary nutritionist can create a recipe for him. If it isn't balanced, it can lead to very serious health problems over time. Bloodwork is not a great indicator of whether or not a diet is working well.

We have dealt with pancreatitis here. My girl does eat homecooked food because she has so many medical issues. It has to be balanced though...

If you just put the kibble down that the vet wants your pup on, how long will he go without eating?

Well Charlies diet is mainly boiled chicken the lunch meat he had yesterday and the evening before was just to get him to eat something but it wasnt the cause of the flare. I am vry careful with what I feed him I read labels and everything to make sure the fat content is none or as low as possible.

The pages they gave me on home cooked food were very detailed and Ill have to use my diabetic scale to work it out, they did suggest trying to switch to ground turkey to see if he likes that, if I put out the can food down and he doesnt want it, he simply wont eat but as I had said the vet doesnt want him going more than 24 hours without eating anything. I was told this when we were trying to change his food several months ago and believe me he held out so tonite I bought ground sirloin and boiled it then ran it under extremely hot water to rinse off any remaining fat. He ate that right up so it may just be time for a change of meats and then continue the veggies and fruits.
