Do you pet other dogs in Petsmart etc?

I'm like others, I will ask first if it's ok to pet them. I know I prefer when I'm asked if someone can pet my little one

I ask first if I can pet them and I always say thank you. I don't mind people petting Tila as well, it's always nice if they ask first though. I don't like when people try to grab her out of my arms though, that bothers me so much. You just never know.

I'd say "she bites" and see how fast they snatch their grabby hands back...

Yeah, I've had a few people try to grab her out of my arms and carry her. Makes me nervous. I tell them she wiggles lots and I'd rather carry her and they can pet her.

We were in Petsmart on Sunday and there was a lady with a pom. I asked if I could pet him and told her we had one also. She happily let me pet him and we talked a few minutes about the breed. I always ask before petting a dog. Not just because of manners but also for my health. Never know if I will be bit.
Dh had Seymour outside, holding him waiting on me to pay. A group of teens came up and one asked if they could pet Seymour. DH sd yes and they oohed and aaahed. As we went to the car, he sd he was impressed that they had asked before petting. Sd it showed manners. I wonder if it had anything to do with hubby's size? LOL.
