any kind of cleaner that you use on your floors would have to be massive to kill a German shep. You would have to be literally pouring gallons on the floor. I don't use chemicals just because I like organic and green products. You weren't rude.. She is defensive over something that is untrue. She should apologize and this thread needs to be closed.

Ironman, we too use the shark steamer/cleaner thingy and like you live in an area with awful water (SanDiego) and I use 50/50 old fashioned white vinegar and water. I steam my tile floors w/the distilled water in the machine, then clean them with the 50/50. I am one of the germ a phoebe persons so the super cleaning, sterilizing part of the vinegar w/out the chemicals appeals to me. I learned about the vinegar in the Air Force along w/many other el cheapo cleaning things Yes at first it takes a couple of times to clean up the residue off the tile, BUT then it's done and once a month, TA DA. For little spot "accidents" my old swifter with a new and improved head cover, one I crocheted myself, a little 50/50, spot up, wash the cover. I don't worry about chemicals. We are all as careful as we can be about the things that impact our little people.

This "friend" forwarded you a hoax email that has been going around for years. If this was a true danger to our pets, we would have known of it long ago. When the melamine made it's way into our dog food, it didn't take long before vets and other experts started putting two an two together and found out the truth behind what is going on.
