Ironman, we too use the shark steamer/cleaner thingy and like you live in an area with awful water (SanDiego) and I use 50/50 old fashioned white vinegar and water. I steam my tile floors w/the distilled water in the machine, then clean them with the 50/50. For little spot "accidents" my old swifter with a new and improved head cover, one I crocheted myself, a little 50/50, spot up, wash the cover. I don't worry about chemicals. We are all as careful as we can be about the things that impact our little people.
