I guess I don't see how she can say he's going to be little like 4 lbs one day then three days later he's already 4 lbs.. I see so many differences in these two dogs and the ears kind of give it away.. Also the pictures were taken years apart. I hope she's not trying to give me an older dog trying to fool because he's definetly going to the vet for a full checkup including an estimate of how old he really is.. I'm curious as to what dog she tries to give me today. I'll post pictures and let everyone know if I even walk away with a dog and instead a wasted 6 hours of my time. Thanks for the reply and thoughts!

I apologize if my post sounded like I was saying that you had a problem with owning a larger Yorkie. I should have written it better....I was just trying to give you an idea of possible size for yours and that I don't think that this breeder is telling the truth.

Oops sorry! I didn't mean to come off like I was defending myself.. I understand that and thank you for the information.. I was just making sure everyone knew I didn't have a problem with a larger yorkie.. Its just the information that I got from her that's somewhat aggrivating.. I know she's not telling the truth.. Its like showing me a picture of a white dog then sending me a picture of a black dog and telling me there the same dog.. When clearly its not..

I'm not sure if you can tell just by the ears. My pup has changed alot in the four weeks I've had her. Her ears have gone from both being floppy, to one up, to now both up (look at my album on my profile to see her pics). Looking at my Zoe's pics, I wouldn't think she's the damn dog...but I took all, so I know she is :p
But this breeder definately sounds shady.
Can't wait to hear the outcome of your trip. Hoping for the best for you.

If you dont feel completely comfortable with this breeder I would not get the pup even if it means losing a deposit. Hes going to be about 9 lbs or more as an adult which is fine there are plenty of larger yorkies but if you had your heart set on a smaller one I would wait because the yorkie will be with you for many years and you shouldnt settle

She is adorable! I have bigger pictures I can zoom in on here but on the "younger" version he seems to have a different point to his ears also alot more hair on the inside part.. the second if you zoom in he doesn't have hardly any hair on the inside... I'm just not convinced these two are the same dogs.. Thats why I posted here to get a little help and info! :) Which i've gotten alot and appreciate every bit of it.. I feel like i'm going into this blind sided though not really sure of what the outcomes gonna be.. It's got me somewhat nervous. I could be wrong and get this dog or I could be right and get a totally different dog or get no dog at all.. It could go so many ways I just want it to be over already..

Its not the deposit i'm losing though.. Its $750.. Its basically the replacement for the one I bought last year and he passed away.. I more or less did have my heart set on a smaller one but I don't think this breeder is going to give me one let alone my money back or another dog.. Its taken her this long to offer me 1 dog and thats with persistance. Like me emailing her asking whats going on etc. I think if I never emailed her asking I don't think I would have ever got a response back.. If he's big then we'll go from there thats fine, as long as he's healthy.. Then later on down the road I can get the one I really wanted that's going to be at least standard sized and from a reputable breeder.. I don't take dogs to the pound. There with me till the end. So no matter what this little guy has a good home with lots of love.

Oh I see well in that case yes I would get the pup and give him a happy home and just get another yorkie later. Remember when you buy a pup you are really buying the breeder so next time instead of looking at pup pictures and deciding on buying them search for a reputable breeder and look at their pups. Pups from reputable breeders are usually very cute and the correct size because they are breeding to the standard. The YTCA is a good place to start

Sounds like you got a cute lil teapot!! :D

It was so heartbreaking that I just wanted my money back. But she doesn't have it for me... She offered me other dogs but I only wanted a yorkie.. Thats what I paid for, thats what I wanted.. So I guess i'm just trying to get what I paid for.. I'm glad though you don't believe these parents produced this pup. I don't believe so either. When you click on the properties of the pictures the dates are wrong. The first puppy was taken 1/21/2011, so recently. However the next four are taken from 2008. None of this adds up. Thats all i've been thinking about for the past 24 hours. Believe me, my minds spinning with different thoughts. Ive researched it so much that i've probably clicked on over 100 different sites about it.. Charts, information everything. Not to mention putting the two pictures side by side and pointing out differences that are way to extreme to be the same pup. Thanks for the help!

I'm sorry but I just have to add, a reputable breeder would have returned the money to you right away if the dog passed away....however a reputable breeder also wouldn't have given you the dog at 1 pound anyways....best of luck to you sweetie.

As a breeder, I took my bitch to the vet for an after whelp check and shot..so there is a record of the bitche whelping...who sheis and how many. Then I took a stool sample at 6 weeks..then at 8 weeks the pups got a well puppy check...and at 12 weeks if I was selling a pup, it went to the vet for a 12 shot..(I gave earlier ones) and well puppy check.

If this breeder has no records of her pups and adults seeing the vet, I would be very concerned..

No way I believe these parents produce this pup..possible, but so very unlikely.

its possible for 2 small parents to produce a larger pup/dog. Tucker was 5 pounds at 4 months old and at 2 years is between 9/10 pounds. He is very stocky as to where both of his parents were 4 pounds and very small boned. His brother (from same litter) and his "sisters" from the next litter all stayed under 4 pounds and small. I call him my wanna be bulldog... anyways, he is proof that is very possible! :)
I hope it all works out for you and this pups is healthy..

I think these are different pups. See the pup in the second picture? It has a green eye-shine. (That indicates a pup that will eventually have a silk coat).

I don't think the eye-shine develops until about 6 months of age. Has anyone ever seen a pup with green eye-shine at the age of 10 weeks?

tammy8833 02-18-2011 03:49 PM

i think the pup in the 2nd pic looks like a 10 week old pup but a almost 5lb 10 week old pup and a bit poorly bred...

i think i would have just fought to get the money back..threatening to go to court makes a lot of people pay up..she doesnt seem like a trust worth breeder and if you are not comfortable with her being honest...fight for your money back and get the dog you want dont settle

smyrfette 02-18-2011 04:17 PM

Very very observant of you to pick out the green eye'd shine silk coat.

I went and grabbed my binky's scrapbook because my hubby bought her for me without my knowledge and this lady let her go at 6 weeks.

thank god she was healthy and thank god for these boards and all the wonderful breeder friends I made who helped me make sure she was going to be ok.

I had my angel 11.5 years and wouldn't trade it for the world.

I went through her scrapbook and had one of her laying on the computer chair she was 3 months old at the time..no green eyed shine and she had the prettiest silk coat when she grew up.

actually none of the pictures even when she as a few months older and we had just renovated the powderroom and she went in there and tore up toilet paper..there she is sitting in a big pile of it looking right at me and no green in her eyes yet either

of course in hubby's eyes not her fault and he had the contractor move that fancy european holder up higher...lol

smyrfette 02-18-2011 04:24 PM

he's also breaking into adult coat and I know that varies but I got it was around 6 months that starts

jeanm1963 02-18-2011 04:30 PM

So very sorry that you are going through this, it really must be heart breaking.
My Laci came from a crappy breeder, I think she lied to me also, she was shady, at the time I didnt know better.
Laci was an only pup, I got her at 12 weeks old she was 2.7 pds and today she weights a little over 6 pds.
I dont think those pups look alike, and personally I think the older pup has a scruffy looking coat and sparse.
This puppy is going to be with you years maybe 15-20 be really happy with him.
I think it would have been better if you had the choice of the litter not one you just have to " take".
