| Just Joined Hello my name is Katarina I just joined today I got my first yorkie feb. 5th, he is 10 weeks old today & his name is Totoro. I'm 20 years old, in University and my little man will be following me when I move out on my own as well. I've read a lot about yorkie sizes and coats and whatnot to try and figure out how he'll look when he's older. I did see both parents on site but the breeder had their fur longer and they looked like shaggy mops so I'm not really sure how he'd look when he's an adult and well-groomed. Also she did not have the puppies vaccinations done when I picked him up. She said she was going to get them done by the following week but I couldn't drive back and forth as she lived quite a while away so I brought him home that day. Is it okay for him to not have them done now? There isn't a certain age they must be done by? I called my vet's office and the receptionist said it should be all fine and I can bring him in for his first shots. Thanks |

| Welcome. Sounds like you have a lovely Yorkie. If the Vet is ok with delaying the shots, I would think that is ok. There's a wealth of information on most all subjects Yorkie here, so make yourself at home and get ready to read. |

| HI Katerina...I LOVE the name Totoro...(it reminds me of that cartoon is that where you got the name?) Welcome to YT!! Please post pics when you can!! I wouldn't worry about the shots...just get him in and your Vet will get him caught up! It's really hard to really know what a yorkie pup will look like full grown..they change SO much!

| Totoru is a cutie patootie for sure! Welcome. You will probably become addicted to this site. I joined in December and probably get on it several times a day. I still find new information daily! Enjoy!

| Hi welcome to YT!!! If the vet says its ok to hold off on the vaccinations then I'm sure its fine but I would definitely take him for his initial check-up. They'll be able to give him a clean bill of health and then you won't have to worry, I just wouldn't let him walk on the floor of Petsmart or places where other dogs have gone until he gets his shots since he's susceptible to all sorts of things right now. Congrats on your new puppy!! He's a cutie!!!

| Lulu is such a cute name! It's on my list of girl names but I've never had a female pet I just looked at her pictures and she is adorable!! Yeah, I love it so far, everyone loves their yorkies so much! Thank you Kelly! Yes he will be going on his initial check-up soon! He's so full of life and energy I'm hoping the check up will go smoothly. I don't let him walk around petsmart or anything I'd be scared anyways haha he's so little I feel like any other dog could just scoop him up and run off then I'd lose my baby. I have another question, if anyone looks at his pics his ears aren't showing much sign of rising (I don't care either way I think floppy ears are cute) I've read different times when they're up by, and I do not want to tape his ears even if it's harmless. So, I'm just wondering what you guys think? Odds of them rising and at what age did yours? Thanks!

| Thanks Suze! Yes he hasn't come into contact with any other dogs except for my boyfriends (who is up to date on all his vaccines) They've only played once or twice, such a gentle doggie. Is it okay to play with another dog if I know they're up to date with theirs? Thanks!
