YorkieTalk Newbie! | First time Yorkie Owners:) Hello to Everyone! My name is Libby and I'm new to YorkieTalk. I recently got a new puppy for Christmas. She was a gift from my boyfriend and I absolutely love her!! We got her at about 8 weeks old and today she is 13 weeks old. This is our first pet together and as first time "doggie" parents we are full of questions. Each time I goggled a question this forum would pop up. I loved reading all the stories and advice from other Yorkie owners so I decided to join. Housebreaking has been going well the only thing is she likes to eat her poop We're working on that We live in Northwest Arkansas and we just got hit with 20 inches of snow.. So haven't been able to go on any walks for about a week now! Any advice for keeping her entertainted indoors?? Also she likes to nip on our hands when she gets really excited. I say no & then ignore her if she continues but she just has a mind of her own and in that state of rowdiness she just doesn't listen. Will this get better as she gets older? I know she understands the word no too.

| Congrats on your new puppy and welcome to YT! You seem to have the same issues I went through with my Oliver when I brought him home. I too got him at 8 weeks and the only problem I found was the extensive nipping and biting. This was due to bringing him home before he had time to fully socialize with his litter mates. The nipping does go away, you just have to keep disciplining him and say "no!" and giving him something he can chew on, then praise him for chewing on that. As for the poo eating, haha Oliver did that too! It's most likely because their poo smells like their puppy kibble and so they think its food If you put tiny pieces of pineapple in their food their is something about the smell of it that turns them off from eating it. I started adding bits of pineapple when Oliver was about 6 months so I would consult someone more knowledgable before feeding your 10 week old pineapple bits! Good luck with your new baby!!!

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I live in the River Valley in Arkansas. I love Fayetteville!! I go there often. Your mall is better than ours!! We didn't get near as much snow as you did. We have about 6 inches and it is still snowing. Congrats on the new baby! You have no idea how much joy your furbaby will bring you! I was told to give them a tiny bit of A1 sauce to stop the poop eating. I don't think there would be any problem with it but maybe someone with more experience can tell. As far as the chewing, welcome to having a puppy. Lol. I keep lots of toys down for Rosie. They entertain and would give the chewing satisfaction. Great to see another Arkansas person here!!
