| Yorkie siblings We recently lost our 12yr old Yorkie and are getting a new baby next week. We had more or less decided to buy 2 pups (bitches) from the same litter but I have in the last couple of days read article after article saying DON'T DO IT . Has anyone here got any advice for or against? Thanks! |

| I know some will say not to have 2 puppies at the same time and not to have 2 females or 2 males at one time. Well, I'm here to tell you that I have now and have done in the past all of the above and I have never had any problems or regrets. My girls are sisters from the same litter and they are so bonded...I can't imagine them not being together. They are now 3, both were spayed at the same time when they were around 2 1/2 and we have never had any aggression or issues of any kind. My boys (unrelated but neutered) have never had issues either. I know others have their own experiences to share but there is mine Good luck with your decision. |

| I have read here good experiences, like above, and bad. A couple breeders here refuse to sell 2 pups from the same litter to one family after having bad experiences where the pups ended up not getting along at all. My experience is limited, but my guess is that it is like putting any 2 dogs together. Some will work, some won't. If you are up for the challenge of training and caring for 2 pups at one time, go for it.

| Yorkie Siblings Thanks guys, it's made me anxious over something that should be amazing. Guess I'll talk with the breeder and see what she says. |

| Our Experience We have two sibling Yorkie sisters and have had them for over six months now. They love to play with each other. Although there are times it sounds like a pack of wolves tearing into lunch, they have never brought blood. When they get too rough, they let each other know. Having the two also made the transition from "Momma" a lot easier. They never whined when we put them in their crate at night and actually slept through the night. The only frustrations that we have had and are still experiencing is the "potty training"! You get two "suprises" and two wet spots instead of one. We were doing great with potty training, but the nasty winter weather we have had in Tulsa these past two weeks has set us back. I hope your sisters bring you as much joy and laughter as ours have to us! |

| When you have 2 puppies together siblings or not they play & wrestle but i think it is really best to have 2 together they are company for the other when you are away...and i can pick up 2 tootsie rolls as well as 1

| I have 3 all close in age but not litter mates Chloe and Claire will be one in March and Charm in April. They have so much fun playing together. knock on wood I haven't had any potty training issue with my group they have all been really good about going on the pee pad and going outside but it wasn't easy in the beginning with me it was like having triplets. I'm a stay at home mom for my pups so I've had a lot of time to work with them (my skin kids are all adults and live out of state) and I work from home and I think this is why it has worked out for me. My pack all have completely different personalities but blend nicely together. It does take a lot lot more work with more then one, vet care cost more so I have insurance on all my girls that helps some, but doesn't cover routine things like shots, or spaying. |

| Yorkie Siblings Thank you all for your replies. I feel a lot better having discussed it here and with the breeder. She has raised several dogs, some litter mates some parent and child. I realise the work will be extra as well as the cost and am fully prepared to take this on. We are well aquainted with expensive vet bills as our last baby was ill for quite some time and uninsured. This time we won't make that mistake. I live with my parents and my dad is not working just now so he will be with them most of the day. I intend to take one in my room and they will take the other and will make sure to do as much as possible seperately to try to avoid the seperation anxiety. Our last yorkie was as small as these two so the house and garden is still pretty puppy proof. Chaos is about to descend and I can't wait |

| It sounds like you know a lot about yorkies already and you have done your research and know what you are getting into. I personally think it is great!! I have three dogs (not all yorkies) and think it is better when you have more than one pet.. I can't be everything to my little guy so they have each other. I feel less guilty when I go out and love to watch them play and interact- it is better than watching tv. Oh the stories only a mom enjoys I wish you luck, hope to see lots of pictures and hear stories.

| Make sure you buy from a Reputable Breeder that breeds Good Temperments. I groom my Mentors dogs and everyone of them has the Best Temperments and they all get along. This is very important. I also have a pet bitch at home that I bought from a friend before I had my Mentor. She does not like other bitches and will start fights and she is spayed. Good Luck... |

| yorkie siblings We've had two dogs before and for a brief time, 3. But they weren't all the same breed or anywhere close in age. Buffy was our first little dog and first yorkie and we had real problems getting her to eat. She would starve rather than eat something she didn't fancy. She was so attached to us it didn't seem fair to introduce another dog into the house. This is why we were going to do it from the start this time. We thought they could be some company for each other and that a bit of competition might help with the feeding problems. |

| yorkie siblings We are going to the same breeder we used before, her dogs all have excellent temperaments. She's been a breeder for 40 yrs. She has 8 in the house including the parents and they all get along. We've spent a lot of time there at her encouragement to see the dogs and bond with the pups. Hopefully it will all go well. |

| We don't have yorkies but we do have 2 basset hounds both females and from the same litter. They are too close. They wont go out alone they have to be together. The only thing they fight about is food Chloe is a bit of a hog and she growls at Cleo when she goes to eat. We have to stay in the room to make sure Cleo gets to eat but otherwise they are like two peas in a pod. |
