| OMG'sh, I think I know why! I'm not very plant savvy, so when I looked up anything that might be poisonous to pups, I put in Rose of Sharon, because I knew it as this, and not hibiscus, so it didn't show up in the poisonous list...Now that Apple is feeling better, and going outside, she's running around the Rose of Sharon trying to pick up seed shells, that I guess the squirrels have left behind...They're toxic! I've already cut back all the branches w/seeds, on them and thrown them away, and have fenced off an area, around the bush w/an x-pen...As soon as I can, I'll hire someone to dig it up...In the meantime, I'm going nuts, trying to figure out how to get any, possibly, blown seeds out of the yard? She has always hung out, around that Rose of Sharon, but I never knew why, I thought it might be bird or squirrel poop?...I can't believe she's lived here, all her 2 1/2 yrs., and not gotten sick, before now...I'm almost betting the seeds of the Rose of Sharon caused her to have the HGE! I am just sick I didn't know this, but I do now...Don't plant Rose of Sharon or any kind of Hibiscus where your pups may be! |

| I'm so glad you posted this! Now if DH gets a wild hair to plant any in the "dog yard", I'll remind him about what happened to your little Apple! He is the kind of gardener that plants first, and asks questions later, lol! |

| I'm glad you saw that. Lots of common landscaping plants are poisonous and some require just a small amount of ingestion to be lethal. I had to remove some rhododendron bushes from Kacee's fenced yard area, because she kept bothering them. Muffin didn't pay them any attention and they were in a bed of their own. I'm glad you think you've found the problem and perhaps have some answers that you didn't have before.

| I have Roses of Sharon along my back fence. In front of them I have raspberry bushes. Sammy doesn't bother with anything that falls off the Roses of Sharon but he does like to take a raspberry off the bushes!! |

| Maggie, I hope you have found the source of Apple's sudden illness. This is a good reminder to everyone to be careful with plants, outdoors and indoors.

| My Sassafras got very sick too when she decided to chew on my houseplant that was hanging down the side of my buffet. It was a Plileodendrum (sp.) So be careful of them too!

| I'm glad your Sassafras is okay. Philodendrons are one of the most toxic houseplants that dogs can ingest. Ivy is another, and just about anything that produces a flower can be deadly.
