I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You might want to read this link: Goldenray Genetics Chocolate Yorkies Red Golden or Yorkie Blue Borns. A grey puppy could indicate blue born, and this can be a serious conditon. Most breeders think the breeding pair should not be bred together again.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I didn't get that from the article at all. The way I read it was that the yorkie is a black and tan dog that turns 'blue" later, which isn't the same as the blue born. This article also says those that are born 'gray/silver' are blue borns. TaylorMadeYorkies.com Blog: BORN SILVER

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | The "blue" that they are referring to in the first paragraph is different than "blue born." The proper shade for an adult yorkie is called "blue" but it's more of a metallic type of black, not pure black, that you see on some breeds, and yes, these dogs are born black and tan and the black hopefully changes to this dark steel blue. It's a very difficult color to produce. Blue born on the other hand, is a condition where, the puppies are born grey looking, and those that live can experience skin problems and hair usually is sparse.

| I understand about the ones that turn blue. I just found that whole thing confusing; but I guess it is my reading comprehension tonight.
